This list is intended to be competative with added bonus of making for a cool storyline for afterwards.

Tac. squad   300
Tac. squad   300

Dev. squad   250
with Chaplain  50
Assult sqd.   175
Thunderhawk 200

Terminaitors  325
Terminators   325
with Chaplain   50
Terminators   325
with Supreme Comander 100

Whirlwind 300

Thunderbolts  150
Thunderbolts  150

I'll take this force to the same tournament that Clockwerks is taking his Eldar to, and that QuintAan is bring his Chaos to.  Astute observers will note that this force is for 3000, as the tourney has gone up by 300 pts.

All coments are welcome and apriciated, but my model collection is a little tight.

Surprised if Chaplain is with Devastators which is the way it reads. I presume you mean Chaplain with Assault Squad?

Once deployed, you will be very static.  The air assault troops and the termies will all be on foot.  This will make it a challenging force to win with.

Strategically, I would group my objectives together and know that I would likely have to go for less-than-choice targets in order to make sure the sloggers can grab the territory they need to win.

As far as selection, I would also put the Chaplain with the Assault marines.  That way he can use his CCMW attack in addition to the Inspiring bonus.  I understand the desire to preserve him for the +1 Inspiring bonus, but given your necessary game plan, the "banzai" air assault will be a bad idea and even in an assault stand he is likely to survive.

I would drop the third terminator squad and take another tactical squad

Ditto - and lose the chaplin with the devestators....

They should avoid combat, period. A librarian on the other hand can be nasty if you are gonna use them for firefights.

Yes, I agree, I think you'll lack mobility ...   And Devs should never get into C/Cbt ... Don't get caught up in the "40K syndrome", where everything must go into C/Cbt and ignore ranged weapons/firepower ...   :)

Thanks for the comments!
Sadly, I don't have any more tactical squads :(

I've always put the chapie in with the assulters, but though I would try something new so that he would survive longer.  Having him back with the attacky element does seem more dramatic.

Are you suggesting the Devs not be in the Hawk so that they can shoot stuff elsewhere?

The problem I see with Devs in the Thunderhawk is that they become tied to the assault and are generally spent whether or not the assault succeeded. If the assault fails like it has twice against my chaos marines, they are quite dead for all intents and purposes.

I would field the devs as a unit in rhinos and use their mobility and firepower. That way you have less tied into the thunderhawk and less need to use it in turn 2 in an assault role.

Well, so far this list has served me well.  Its alot of fun to watch the marines take it in the nose on the first turn, then experience a dramatic rescue by the terminators!  They just look sooo cool plopping down amoungst the smug foe's forces.

I've been pretty lucky winning first turn which helps alot, but I always deploy them as if I won't..,ie in cover and near multiple targets in case some flee.

They are 3 for 3, taking IG in 4 turns, Ulthawai (sp?) Eldar (2-0), and Chaos (3-0).  This marked my first win against Eldar in a long time, and first ever against Chaos.

Grrrr, if only I had won the initative in turn 2 my chaos would still be undefeated against you I bet!!! :;):

Yeah, have 60 terminators teleport on your position can really ruin any chaos lord's day. Breaking the two decimators and then utterly smacking the defiler/marines formation before I even got a chance to blink saved your bacon.

That true.  This time thing went well for me, and it was still a real strugle.

Nah, don't sell yourself short. You kicked my arse nicely and even if I had gotten the init in turn 2, at best it would have put us on even ground and I bet a tie in turn 3 would have resulted.
