Is that book using the Forgeworld stats for Nightwings etc...

That book is two-fold:

a) people like big armies! Look at those epic playing people. If we do that in this 40k scale they may drop epic and play Apocalypse!

b) hmmm, those Forgeworld books are quite succesfull. Lets do the same & more.

Its a mix between FW stats and new stats from GW. Expecially the BIG weapons (those which can't be found in any codex) are more powerful than their FW counterpart.

Will you include the minimum range for carapace mounted weapons? Its 24" in Wh40k with would be 15cm in Epic.

Probably, yes.

INteresting pic. Very similar to the Warlord titan pic from the 1st ed Codex Titanicus IIRC.

AT rulebook, actually.  :;):  And it's all in the legs.

Just as a point on 40K-Epic conversion guidelines, aside from "small arms" weapons, 24" mostly converts to 30cm, not 15cm - SM Assault Cannons, Reaper Autocannons, etc..

That's not to disagree an exception is warranted in this case.  I'm just being pedantic.

24" = Bolter range (Small Arms) = 15cm
36" = Heavy Bolter range = 30cm

I can be pedantic too :D

I agree, its all a cynical marketing ploy, and I dont even play Epic any more (though maybe I should).

I must admit, I wants it bad, but I may just club together with my mates and share a copy of Apoc', rather than having to fork out for the dice, templates etc, etc. Its becoming increasingly tiresome (and expensive) keeping up with the latest additions/ editions to the flagship games, and I'm getting too long in the tooth for it. What the hairiles I'd do without BFG/ Mordheim I dont know ?:;):

I think 15cm would be the distance in this case, as with the Multi-Melta.

If it would have enough support from the community i would scrap all epic units and start from new. I would invent a system/formula to translate Wh40k stats  to epic equivalents.
Only the rules would be unchanged and perhabs armylists.

I would be completely against that.

I knew that this idea would have nil support :D
But face it: If GW and FW invents a new unit it would be a lot easier to translate the stats to Epic. The only remaining challenge would be to find out formation size and points cost for it.

I don't care what stats a unit has in 40K.

Oh ok...so you would give a LemanRuss ah 100cm TK2+ shot for its armamend if it would represent your view of how this unit has to work in epic?

If it fit the fluff, yes. My point is, I'm tired of the 40K tail to wagging the Epic dog.

According to fluff a Tau Railcannon shoots straight through a LandRaider and rips a rhino-sized hole in it. So it should have at least TK2+(1).

I don't think thast following fluff is a good idea.

Fluff is good for formation comparison or determining a units speed (because in the Wh40k rules they are to unified, even for vehicles).

Yes SpaceMarines die in drove in Wh40k but this is wrong. They don't die, thery are out of action. If 10 Guardsmen are taken out of action in a Wh40k game iguess 5 of them would be dead or unable to fight for along time.
But if 10 SpaceMarines are taken out of atcion i guess only ONE would be dead or out of action for alonger time.
This extra toughness could be represented in the units stats in Epic, because a Epic battle represents a longer timeframe than a battle of Wh40k.

This is where fluff should kick in.
