And originally (SM1) praetorians were titan-sized vehicles like Capitol Imperialis and Leviathan.  :)

Yes, I have those rules(and have used them) from an old W/D where the CI & HB are called Praetorians. But in typical G/W Orwellian "New Speak", the term now means Bionic/Biogen Humans ...  Now the Thorpe E40K Skitarii List has robots (as robots on the list) too. I don't think Thrope meant the upgraded humans to look like robots. Based on the his take on the E40K rules/list.  So I'd recommend E/W's Myrmidon Heavy Inf.  for Skitarii Praes ...  But DWWFY ! :;):  And in the old drawings (RT & WD), Servitors could be modified with a Bio arm & eye or more major work done as seen in more recent fluff.  Like on the Epic DKoK/SgMstrs Brunhilda Servitor driver (which I will replace with an old IG standing gunner !).  Or the Servitors that comes with the E:A SM C-pack ...  But based on G/W's ever evolving fluff ... anything goes !!  :D

That's precisely the source of my confusion, inconsistencies among books.

That is always the case, especially with BL fiction books. Most Black Library authors love to invent new stuff and combined with generally poor knowledge of the setting to begin with results are rarely pretty.

Yes, even Abnett is pretty lazy when it comes to doing research (Warlord titan is described as being 60 meters tall in one of the Inquisitor books).

Thus it's best to refer to Black Library fiction only as a last resort and if you're that desperate you might as well make up the answer yourself

(this doesn't apply to stuff like Deus Ex Mechanicus short story by Andy Chambers but such works are few and far between)

http://oz.games-workshop.com/games....dox.htm - this could be useful too!

(using OZ website because it doesn't suck nearly so much - yet)

Thanks. I didn't even think of looking under Marines.

The same servitor models are used by Marines, Ordos Inquisition and Imperial Guard. They might be easier or harder to find in different miniatures galleries.

Yep; 'servitorisation' is a common punishment for criminals etc in the imperium.

Also: does anyone remember when an Apocathery's tool for removing geneseeds was called a CARNIFEX? I do! I keep meaning to do a conversion of a marine medic 'with carnifex'; a big old tyranid nasty on a lead or something!
