Just bought myself a box of warlord 28mm Romans, very nice. I have absolutely no idea how Wrhammer Ancients works apart from "its a bit like WFB".

If anyone would share the benefit of their experience I'd be grateful?

Any ideas on how a Roman army list would look?

Do broken units maintain their ZOC including the 10cm for scout units?

If an enemy teleports in, gets the first turn and charges my lead unit, can a different unit on Overwatch with a line of sight to the assault fire on them after they complete their charge move but before the assault starts?

I think overall the 'Commander' series of games (Blitz, Cold and Future) offers a more realistic view of the battlefield in terms of how your strategy is inacted. E:A gives you the platoon/squadron eye view of the units,in that you exercise their response to your command. In the commander series you...

Quote:  But the idea of a group consisting of armour, flak, artillery and foot sloggers as well as specialists all given the same order just doesn't work. Or even worse, all given orders in a good working formation and some not executing them. But it would have been your list design that would...

No disrespect, but would it not be better to post up developments for the system over on the FWC forum. I think Pete has worked hard to encourage discussion and development on the SMP forum and it would be regretable if things started to develop separately to that, after all there is a significant e...

Quote:  Random points? And what tournaments do you play in, other than E:A, that don't have mission based  scenarios? Sorry I'm not being clear. If you use the battlegroups feature in CWC it allocates a random points modifier to your force, therefore a 2000 point force could end up as 1800 ...

Its probably been covered elsewhere, but I don't think you can make a truly balanced game when considering Titans, you always run the risk of over/under powering them in relation to the other non-Titan units (its akin to the bad shower rule, either too hot or too cold and far too much fiddling to ge...

Can I check the shield stats: Against normal shooting: a reinforced armour save (Shield does not confer any benefit). Against macro weapons: A single armour save (for being reinforced- shield still gives no benefit). Against Titan Killer Weapons: A single shield save against each TK hit (damage roll...

Quote:  That's weird that people don't think it'll stand up to tournament play.  Or is it more of a philosophy thing?  That they don't think it should have to?  Or that tournament play typifies a type of play not in keeping with the designer's prefered mode of play? Yes exactly ...

One thing I would say, if at all like CWC, FWC is definitely not a tournament gaming system!

Recieved some quite intense reactions when we asked whether possible to host a CWC tourny at our annual wargames show!!

The game report on the FWC site looked interesting but it is using larger figures (25mm I think) for a more skirmish based game so I don't have a clue how the larger units work so far. What I like about CWC is the mission focus and the points modifier, as Pete says rarely do forces of similar streng...
