Now that there is a fair bit of fluff on these guys (in 'xenology') what do people think of the possibility of a fleet? (or game affect, e.g. the 'bendies' sabotage attacks).

For those that don't have access to xenology I'll give you a summary of thier characteristics:

Secretive (they also have a natural cloak, kinda like jem'hadar).
Scavangers (they use all they can, they don't seem to make much of thier own).
They live under ground in cities (usually under human cities, some times even in abandoned sections of hive cities).
Nomadic (they need the presence of other civilisations to live off, so they go where the 'resources' move. When populations get too big they stow away on transports and the like to spread thier number).
Keep a detailed history of thier tribe/family (dating back since the Old ones were on the scene).
They're bendy! (all thier limbs are like spines)
They're poisoness, making varied toxins from thier own body.
They wear thier physical waste (its a natural part of thier bodily function, kinda gross!).
Some times they just live on ships (i'f they're big enough) and raise families/tribes on board.
Thier waiting for an Old one (the one who lingers) to join all the races together to fight off the Necrons. (the one who lingers disappeared half a million years ago to create a great force against the Botz, is this the Nids!?!?!?)

I can see them being in Inquisitor and Necromunda but what about BFG?

I can imagine a kind of pirate fleet based around transports/escorts (human) that some (rare) Hrud have captured. Maybe even Hrud Roks and Hulks.
This would be assuming that some Hrud are up to the task, like a great hero that is creating a force to help defeat the Necrons!

Does this sound a little too crazy?

Cheers,

RayB

Yay, background sounds okay. But as a fleet its a little difficult. Since they move along in transports and such. Maybe for Warrant of Trade (where is it? :p  ) as special thingies, story lines.

But your last line could work for a fleet:
This would be assuming that some Hrud are up to the task, like a great hero that is creating a force to help defeat the Necrons!

Would be cool to go along a Transport Fleet. Few Heavy transports and a bit more normal ones. Maybe even the possibility of an Escort vessel taken over from IN, Tau, Pirates and such. Of course some special rules on the ships.

And maybe they have this legend of the Mighty Hrud who is travelling in a cruiser sized vessel.

They could be on Mars like a certain Necron maybe is?

I think story wise their can be done some cool things. And having them in BFG is always good.
:)

I'll wait and see if anyone else has any ideas then start 'bending' a fleet list together!

WoT is on the back burner at the mo, I just don't have the time! I have to deal with BFG first! :(

Cheers,

RayB

a fleet wouldn't fit very well for these guys based on your description.  Probably a sub-plot or something would be more appropriate.

Why the negative smillie? Its BFG, people want you as a HA member to deal with that. :;):
But that must also mean, you really like WoT!

I think the Hrud should be relegated to the likes of Necromunda and Inquisitor! :p
But they could be a cool subplot, especially in WoT!

Cheers,

Hmm, now there's a new 20+ Page article to start.

Inquisitor: Xenos Campaigns

Which locations to do:

- Non-aligned worlds(think Tatooine!)
- Commoragh
- The Tau Empire
- The Depths of a Hrud Warren
- The Khareshi Expanse  :80:

Perhaps we should instigate an InquisiComms board too...? (Conclavers are very vehemently against Aliens it seems. Even though I battered them all down regarding the idea of Dark Eldar Warbands for in Commoragh)

So, the stats of a Bendy in Inquisitor?

you got that right - they are all too eager to mimic the bigotry and intolerance seen in the Imperium of Mankind...

Second on the InquisiComms idea - time we gave the Greater Good (and the sons of Khaine) a true home in 54mm!

And the Dark Kin   :alien:

I'm thinking the Khareshi expanse could be very cool in this sense...

Perhaps as a sub-sub-plot.

maybe an imperial fleet has a migrating group of hrud stowed aboard?

thus the ship(s) must roll a dice at the beginning of the turn:

1: The Ship may not go on special orders as the H'rud have 'temporarily' 'borrowed' the wiring for their comm system:p .

However, should the ship get boarded, the H'rud will fight to protect their family, and so the ship receives +1 to its boarding value only if the ship was boarded (no boarding to get the bonus).

Hm... or the possibility of simply using the occasional "transport" or "escort" ship as infested by/overtaken by Hrud?  Give it Boarding bonuses due to the overwhelming number of "out of phase" Hrud?  Or perhaps instead give said Transports of Escorts the ability to make teleport Hit and Run attacks?  [Just how "out of phase" is "out of phase?"]

Hmmm.  The Hrud become an interesting possible excuse for Warspheres making Teleport Attacks.....

*apologizes for the thread-o-mancy*...

Due to my background as longtime Skaven player, I've always had a soft spot for rat-like creatures and the idea of seeing them make an appearance in the Battlefleet Gothic system is something that quite appeals me.

The problem however is that they're a nocturnal race and aren't really known for travelling that much through space... Still, I'd think that the idea of a Wolf Pirate fleet would be closest to how they'd best be represented in BFG, though also more along the lines of special scenario's then actually being one of the main forces.

Dunno, it;s alwayts night in space, unless youget too close to a sun...

Scavengers, that's how I see these chaps.  With rickety ships which are cheap and cheerful, but with the potential to do a load of damage if they get to do their bit. A bit like the old, old, old, OLD, Warpraiders.

Oh, and welcome SLVinshqueek. I'm a rare breed, a Skaven admiral, as revealed by the above comment, from the golden days of Man O' War... the only game I was ever any good at.

What if the Skaven act as an NPC or a third players party?

Lets say 1500 pts battle,
suddenly Skaven, worth 250 pts of escorts emerge and try to bring down 1 or 2 ships?
