Well, I went and looked at the PBEM Full Thrust Website. Man was my head spinning before I was done. I can't help but wonder if it is not as difficult to use as it seems.
I do not think of myself as stupid, but I sure felt like I was after trying to make heads or taails from that sites info.
Has anyone else used the PBEM Full Thrust before?

No... but I would be interested. Can post a link? (Because the three clicks required for me to find it is way too much effort!)

Hi,
If you've never played FT before, then get the rulebooks from GZG Downloads.
Then go to the sign-up page to create an account. Maybe try one of the Practice scenarios. That will allow you to fly around and shoot things. If you are the type that likes to learn by doing then just create a new game and I'll guide you through it.
Once you get the hang of it, then it is really easy. One thing is that the client doesn't do much until you create a game through the sign-up page.

I am hoping to learn the basic of Full Thrust/Starmada X from guy at another local(ish) gaming club that I got to know from SCN forums.
If I get to grips with basics of FT would love to give you guys a game of FT PBEM sometime.
Cheers
James

HTH, Tony C. | Thanks, am just relearning the game. Played a few times a Long Ago (yes I mean long time ago ).
I still have the basic book, so I will spend some more time with the book and then revisit the PBEM site. maybe at that point it will make more sense.
Thanks

If you are worried about signing up in the firedrake sign-up page: don't be. The reason there is a sign-up page is to prevent sign-up errors for the FTJava server. Roger Burton West (the owner of firedrake) was kind enough to provide the hosting for the sign-up page (he also wrote the CGI code) free of charge because he is such a fan of FT.

Wasn't worrying about signing up, I'm in 41+ Yahoo groups, just clairfying. Got two practice games downloaded, but think I've got an email problem. I use incredimail - does this put a block on the sending of turns ?

I don't know what incredimail is, but in order for the client to be able to send email to the server, you need an SMTP connection. You can always save the turn to a file and send it as an attachment to the game server. Check the FTJava FAQ for destructions.

incredimail is just a mail package, I've solved that problem, loaded up two paractice games, and got results. My problem now is that I can't the damn things to turn - tried inputing as per the rules, nothing happens - just bore straight on. So how do I code the orders to get them to take notice ?

In cinematic:
- to turn port 3 points and increase speed by 2: p3+2 - to turn starboard and decrease speed by 1: s1-1
In vector:
To apply X thrust: mdX To turn starboard X points: tsX To turn port X points: tpX Separate parts with a comma: ts3,md4,tp2
In both cinematic and vector, "J" applies power to the FTL drive (needs to be done for two consecutive turns), and "STRIKE" strikes the colours.
You should be able to see the ship track on the star map display.
HTH, Tony.
