Really kicking myself now as i passed up the opportunity to bid on the large amount of marine sprues which was on eBay earlier this week. Have now been through my old stuff and there are shed loads of infantry missing.

I'm looking at building an entire chapter and i've worked out pretty much what is required. I have all the vehicles i require with the exception of a few landspeeders.

The main problem is i'm desperately short on marines (tactical, assault, devastator, commanders, captains, terminators). Anyone got any spares or know of where some may be available???
Theres hardly anything left on eBay now.  :(

I can help you with tactical.  I have a few thousand bases worth.  Just tell me how many you want and I will dig them out for you.

Like chaos ork I can help with basic marines (I assume you refer to that 1000 man auction that went for 20 odd pound?). Remind me when I'm in the UK next. What country are you in?

My Rebuilding. Work has stopped while I'm overseas but this is what I'm trying to do marine wise.

Incidentally tac marine wise I reckon mk7's for battle companies and mk6's for reserve is a nice way to distinguish.

I'll work out how many i'm gonna need.
I've got a small Dark Angel force arriving from eBay and i intend to do the chapter following the guidelines in the Armies Of The Imperium book.
The basic 10 companies with a landraider company, support tanks such as vindicators, predators, whirlwinds etc and then most special cards such as commander, librarian, techmarine, medic etc.

Just a quick question.
What resources do you use to research your chapter building and structure from?
As i've said i'm just going from a rather basic list in the Imperium boxset.
It doesn't really go into transports like Thunderhawks and the support elements like whirlwinds, predators, razorbacks etc??

I'm in the UK.

Mk6's for reserve companies sounds a good idea, think i'll go with that.
I'm using the 40k Codex Angels of Death to work out my army.
I'm thinking that each company command stand will have a commander, medic, chaplain, with two tac marines as bodyguard. I'll use the special cards to represent the characters like Azrael, Ezekial and Asmodai.

Combo of what a modern mechanised formation can access, how much of a modern army can mobilise, stuff from 1st edition and 4th and finally battle fleet gothic.

So assuming that my basis is 3 battlebarges and 10 strike cruisers -
1 strike crusier (nominally 10th company) is for training purposes.
Of the reminaing 9 1/3 can be deployed quickly, cause it marines say thats 4 (the battle companies) with the barges  maybe one or two ready to deploy carrying reserves/whatever.
So roughly half the chapter can be rushed to a warzone.
Everyone in the chapter has rhinos (you need spares) so straight up 100 rhinos, not all in action though.
Razorback wise if I needed to fight with more firepower I want to be able to kit up a significant portion of my availible force (the battle companies), so want 30-50.
Dreadnaught wise 4 per company fits what I see as a dread detachment.
1st company wise 100 terminators with the back up alternative of 100 power armour marines, with a couple of vet assualt/dev/bike/landspeeder formations for style purposes.
Bikes/Landspeeders have all that can be fielded with 5 stands of bikes/5 landspeeders = 1 squad (breakdowns of who can use them are in the main rulebook).
Scouts, however many I can get, formation size not fixed.
Armoury wise I figure the ultras have heresy reserves, plus would want to match my infantry companies with armour companies. 10 land raiders are 1st company. After that 3 landraider companies, 2-3 whirlwind companies, 2 vindicator companies, 4-5 predator companies, enough hunters for 2-3 per company.
Landing craft I figure at about 10-16, thunderhawks at (combo of BFG and epic) 6-12 per strike cruiser and 9-18 per barge (using epic models for some battle company stuff and old models plus BFG forge world models for rest).
Miss anything?

Nope, seems pretty much everything covered. :O

My concentration at the moment is on the first 10 companies. I have enough IG armour to use as back up for the time being when playing in games. But i will eventually look to build up the marines their own artillery support.
I've got all the rhinos and land raiders i need as they're easy to come by. Picked up quite a few in recent SM1 / SM2 boxsets from eBay (although i was mainly buying for the buildings).
As we're talking Dark Angels. Both AoftI and Angels of Death state that Companies 1 Deathwing,2 Ravenwing & 10 Scouts don't have rhino transports.
With this in mind have enough to field the rest of the companies plus special commanders with them.
There was one thing that was contradicted between AoftI and Angels of Death though. According to AoftI companies 6 & 7 are tactical companies and due to having a company of Ravenwing they can't be fielded as bikes and speeders.
However in Angels of Death it claims company 6 can be fielded as bikes and company 7 as speeders. So i'm going to get models to field the companies in their 2 guises.
I'm going to need to get my hands on some of the new dreadnoughts. Last time i played we only had the plastic dreadnoughts. But i like the look of the 40k style units. :p

I think the recent DA fluff has them having both Ravenwing and normal units availible.

OK figures required as as follows:

95 assault marines
25 devastator marines
95 scout marines
35 Terminator armour marines
30 space marine bikes
20 landspeeders
14 dreadnoughts
100 mk7 armour tactical marines

Any commander, standard bearer, marine sergeant, apothecary, librarian and techmarine figures would also be appreciated.
Also any spare old style square plastic infantry bases.

Cheers in advance.

May indeed have the devs and tacticals spare. You can have 'em if thas the case! (Do you mind if they are stuck to square bases? And You sure you don't need MK6? ) Find out when I get home in a month.
