So, gonna do a briefish introduction here, before moving on to the pictures of painted goodies.

6mm eh, been a while...

Space Marine was the original GW big box game I owned back in the very early '90's and I guess along with that and Hero Quest and Space Crusade, then Blood Bowl, Necromunda, Warhammer and 40K, that took up most of the past 25 years. I can remember playing huge games spread out across the floor, taking up most of a weekend. Fast forward a bit and I now have a dedicated hobby-room, home to numerous display cabinets, my gigantic paintstation and a decent sized gaming table.

Currently, my main gaming (and painting) focus is Warmachine and Hordes, but I really love painting 15mm stuff too, and am always on the look out for rule sets I can switch to 15mm. The other half picked up a bunch of Onslaught OTC, and grabbed me a pack of Legion Stalkers and Mantis Beasts, which lay about a while, along with some GW Hive Tyrants I got on ebay until we saw a group of guys playing Epic at our local games club (Falkirk District Wargames). That spurred my interest and I dug out the Stalkers and rattled out a quick test base in about an hour (including washes and glue drying), then promptly figured out a rough idea for an army, and stuck an order in to Onslaught to flesh out my Legion.

Then I stuck an order in with Microworld Games, because I really like the look of the Beastmen (was torn between them and Daemons) and figured I could do a 6mm Warmaster army.

And snagged a GW Dominatrix on ebay.

And ordered a load of round bases from Troublemaker Games (does anybody know if they email any sort of confirmation?)

So, currently just waiting for those orders to arrive, and planning global domination on a tiny scale.

I joined up to the Epic Space Marine 40k Facebook group, so apologies, because I am really lazy and hate technology, I'll probably have painted pictures up there before here, because it is so much quicker and easier to upload them.

That said, here are a couple to kick off whilst I sit at the back of the letterbox ;)

First Legion Stalker test base, all done with Army Painter colours. I have, since taking the picture added some darker clump foliage too. Yeah, it looks terrible this close up, but it isn't too bad from tabletop distance. Relatively quick and easy to do as well, so, the army should take shape sooner rather than later.

And the epic paint station shot, this was taken a while back now, some stuff has moved around a bit, I'll get a more recent picture when I get started on my stuff.

Image

Yes, that is the full range of Wargames Foundry (bar 4 OOP pots), new GW range, Army Painter range, P3 range, all the Reaper HD paints, and some extra Reaper and Vallejo stuff. Plus there is more underneath it (Vallejo and old GW ones). Just started buying the Scale75 sets now too... I have a problem.

Cheers,

John

Saving this post for an index, and in the meantime, here are the pretty basic 1000pt lists I am aiming for to get started small scale gaming again.

NetEA Tyranid Army (Onslaught Miniatures Legion and GW Tyranids) - It is pretty much limited to infantry, as that is all I have just now, I will try and get a hold of some 'vehicles' and I'm cursing selling all my original 'Nids.

So, major swarm incoming, threw the Hive Tyrant in to the last brood just for a little something different to paint.

Incompertus, 1000 POINTS
Hive Fleet Onachus Tyranids (NetEA v10.2.1 *APPROVED*)
==================================================

TYRANID SWARM (S) [250]
Two Tyranid Warriors, 4 Termagants, Tyranid Warriors, 2 Hormagants (9 bases)

TYRANID SWARM (S) [250]
Two Tyranid Warriors, 4 Termagants, Tyranid Warriors, 2 Hormagants (9 bases)

TYRANID SWARM (S) [250]
4 Termagants, Tyranid Warriors, 2 Hormagants, Hive Tyrant (8 bases)

LICTOR SWARM [250]
5 Lictor (5 bases)

So... 0/1 x Hive Tyrant, 3/7 x Tyranid Warriors, 4/12 x Termagants, 2/6 x Hormagants, 0/5 x Lictor.

9/31 bases.
250/1000 points.

Warmaster Beastman Army - (Microworld Games Beastmen) Easily ordered enough to run 2-3k points depending on how many I put on a base. Covering the basics to start with, so that the next jump can have a lot more fun stuff. Dragon Ogre's I'm looking at you.

Beastmen Army, 1000 points
Warmaster Trial Armies Compendium 2009
----------------------------------------------------------------
50 - 1 Beastherd (3 stands)
50 - 1 Beastherd (3 stands)
50 - 1 Beastherd (3 stands)
60 - 1 Herdkin (3 stands)
60 - 1 Herdkin (3 stands)
60 - 1 Herdkin (3 stands)
75 - 1 Bestigors (3 stands)
120 - 1 Minotaurs (3 stands)
95 - 1 Tuskgor Chariots (3 stands)
95 - 1 Tuskgor Chariots (3 stands)
125 - 1 Beastlord (40mm base)
80 - 1 Wargor (25mm base)
80 - 1 Bray Shaman (25mm base)
----------------------------------------------------------------
1000 - 10/3 (30 stands/3 Characters)

6/10 Units. 3/3 Characters
675/1000 points. with spare Dragon Ogres and Doombull hero.

I actually bought TWO AP Mega Sets, one for home, one in a case as a travel kit... Then picked up the 3 Zombicide sets to boot.

Never bought the GW Mega Set, the missus picked up a couple of the smaller sets (base paints/layers/washes) and I just filled out the gaps every payday.

My wood is the stuff of legends. This is the third version of it, I kept outgrowing the older ones so they were dismantled and repurposed.

Yup, can't wait for them to arrive. Least they are on a plane now, hoping they don't get hammered by customs...

So, been doing a fair bit browsing over the site, looking especially for how I can bulk out my 'Nids, and came across a thread that had the Khurasan not quite Hive Tyrant models, and well, I already had some, so I started considering doing a complete non-GW force. I have the Khurasan giant demon queen, and looking at her, swapping out the wings for some scything talons might make a decent Bio-Titan.

Also had a look at Dark Realm, and am considering the Claw Beasts as Carnifex. Still looking for a good Biovore proxy, as well as some of the bigger beasties. I had thought about maybe just using 40k Bio/Pyrovores as Bio Titans, or maybe one of the newer big kits, like the Tyrannofex :P Gargoyles would probably do as Harridans.

Decisions, Decisions...

Well, got my orders in from Onslaught and Microworld, still no sign of the bases from TMG, so, that kinda impedes progress....

Luckily I had a few round bases already, so I've knocked out the first Small swarm.

Nothing overly fancy, didn't even really bother taking the mould lines off :P

I have enough bases left to do another (with a Hive Tyrant this time) and then it is a waiting game.
