First post on TC, and my first foray back into epic gaming since playing 2nd Edition Space Marine to death back in the early 90's. What was initially a solo nostalgic exercise, has inspired a couple of other gamers at the local club to play too. After playing and painting a lot of WW2 and modern-era historical stuff, I fancied something a bit brighter and exciting. I can paint blue just fine so Ultramarines it is!

Started out by scoring an unused copy of Ed2 Space Marine and got stuck in! A few eBay bargains later and I'm filling up my shelf space with painted 6mm models. First target was 3500pts for a re-learning-the-rules-game, and now working towards a modest 5000pts for the second game.

Tactical company (minus Rhinos), two terminator detachments, and some old metal Imperial Robots I'm adding to an IG allied contingent.

Those Terminators again

The IG Robots - gotta love the John Travolta pose

A Devastator detachment that will soon be part of a full Battle company
Image

The Ultramarine vehicle pool so far - Land Raider company, Vindicator detachment, Rhinos for the Tactical company, and a pair of old Thunderhawks (soooooo small)
Image

Warlord Titan armed with chainfist, multiple rocket launcher, plasma destructor, and turbo-laser destructor (converted from a 40k IG Chimera multilaser - is it big enough?!)

The colour went a bit weird on my iPhone on the following shots so the blue looks a bit grey for some reason...

Rogue Trader-era Dreadnoughts

The Vindicators

IG Shadow Sword company

Group shot! 3500pts in under a week!

I just wish I had some Ultrmarine decals small enough for 6mm! But I am going to add some vehicle markings once I've got some more models completed.

I'm just about to start on a Reaver Titan, and have a couple of detachments of Whirlwinds, some Knights, Assault Marines and a bunch of other stuff left to paint.

Oh and an Imperator I've just stripped the paint off :spin

Especially good work on the red grading on the beetleback Warlord!

Thanks! It's just GW Wazdakka Red over black primer, with a top highlight of GW Wild Rider (I think thats the names...) with my airbrush. Then lined around the edges with the gold, with GW Agrax Earthshade. I'd recommend the pinky Wazdakka as an undercoat for any red models as the pink makes red really pop imho.

I feel like I'm in the 90's again with all these old school armies making an appearance.

Nicely done.

You're hitting me right in the retro here. It looks great. I was really impressed with the detailing on the warlord's back and weapons especially.

That shade of blue is nice, almost grey...

I really like the detailing on the terminators especially...any trick to painting such tiny details on tiny things?

Great looking force so far. Can't wait to see more! The damage and markings on the warlord carapace are especially nice. :)
