Hi guys,

I am normally terrible when it comes to painting an army. So I figured with my recent adventure back into epic to get my army painted as its built I have decided to take part in TOEG 2012.

As the subject states I am doing a Epic UK Vanaheim force. Most of the models will be from Exodus Wars and I received my first order the other weekend. Included in the order was the 1st 1000 points.

My 3000 point force is going to be

Regimental HQ, 2 Vendettas - 500 points
Infantry Company, 2 Vendettas - 400
Infantry Company, 2 Vendettas - 400
Vulture Squadron - 300
Stormtrooper Platoon - 350
Light Sentinel Squadron - 100
Stormtroopers - 350
Thunderbolt Flight - 150
Lightning Flight - 150
Marauder Destroyer Flight - 275

Progress Update

Month one I plan to paint the Stormtroopers and the Thunderbolt Flight. - Complete
Month Two - Vulture Squadron and Marauder Destroyer Flight - Complete
Month Three - Regimental HQ - Not Started

So to kickstart things I have painted a test model, one of my Stormtrooper Valkyries

I have decided to go for a snow theme for my list.

What are those missiles on the sides?

Looks good, but from a game perspective only 7 formations on the ground (only 4 of which have significant staying power) might be tough to handle properly. It might also be worthwhile to try a white primer and wash it black instead of working up from a black basecoat. It'll make those nice canopies a bit more vibrant, too.

Missiles from the side are Guild Twin Missiles. They come with the Roc and Harpy.

Thanks for the tip around primer I will do another on another date with a white one to see how it compares.

I plan to swap in and out the bombers and Fire support for another Infantry platoon to see which plays better for me. But I figured I would paint the above 3k as it means I get to paint the Rocs from EW.

Ah, you're using Rocs for AC. Looking forward to it.

So after on a lazy Sunday afternoon I decided to crack on with my Vanaheim and with combination of yesterday and today I now have the first 500 points painted.

So first up are the stormtroopers. I have 8 normal stands and a stand with commissar to sub in when the formation has a commissar assigned to it.

Close up of the commissar stand

Next up we have a unit of Thunderbolts.

Finally the first 500 points all together.

So there it is first month down.

C&C welcome,

Chris

Welcome on Board Chris :-)

These chaps are looking good; excellent that you've decided to use a nice homebrew company such as EW too!

Look forward to meeting you and these little dudes at Bristol Summer Sizzler!

Yrs,
Ryan

Another update, I decided to work on an objective for the army. So far I have only managed to do one and am at a loss of what to have for the other objective and Blitz any thoughts would be welcome.

Below is the objective. A crashed Marauder Transporter in the snow.

And with the rest of the force, which has been converted to brown around the base edge.
