Just joined so first of all, Hello everyone, I am most impressed in fact so much so that the bug has been well and truly caught again!
At the moment I'm trying to build up a SOB contingent to my Imperial army and would like to know if anyone has any ideas for converting and/or proxies. I've just finished 6 squads of seraphim (from the old gaurd assualt) (photos as soon as I can A) get a camera B) convince someone to give me some webspace)
Oh and to Warmaster Nice, I would like to introduce your Thraka to My Yarrick...entends right 'hand'

Hi Justiniel, welcome to the boards!
...I believe that around Golden Demon 97/98 someone made some Epic Sisters and did rather well... I'll try to dig out a WD issue no. if you like... ?
Oh.. and for your point B, CyberShadow has very kindly allowed us uploading to all the painting and modelling galleries, so just start a thread when you've got a camera, and get those pictures up- conversions are always great to see! ?

All I can think of are Banshee bodies with bolter arms and a different head - but which? Something helmeted would be best. Unless you're a Tuffskull-standard sculptor. I'd guess waiting for 2008 for release (planned) of the Specialist Games SoB is out of the question.... Incidentally, another interesting addition would be other Ecclesiarchy beasties such as Arcoflagellants and the Penitent Engine - an Epic P.E. would be great! Then again, I've always been more into converting vehicles and stuff rather than troops.
Oh - and welcome!

Why thank you "I'z nuffin personal Yarrick. Just binizz wiw da Waaagh an all going on. Sorry 'bout yer arm "
Welcome to the boards Justinel. Sorry if I don't have much advice on building some Epic SOB minis. The IG assault troopers sounds like a good idea but for the rest... well... The idea with the banshees might be a good one... I'm not much into SOB but doesn't some of them have helmets which might resemble SM helmets from a distance in Epic scale? Thee mk7 armour helmets from the tactical SM might just work. Alternatively to make a resonable head with the classical big hair (and considering you'll have to make a bunch of them) do the heads by placing a small round blob of green stuff on their shoulders. Press in a circular or uppside down V shaped mark where you want the face. If you want a bit more detail make a nose by pressing slightly on each side of the face and beneath where you want it like a U. You can also punch in some eyes with a needle. Just remember that you'll have to make a bunch of them so too much detail will probably be a bit overwhelming to produce. The SOB Rhino variants shouldn't be too difficult to make.
Oh, and please upload some images if you can so we can see the work in progress -it sounds very exciting!
Cheers!

Thanks guys, I've also had a look at the banshees, all 5 that I have! They look possible but I'll have to get a lot more AND try and sharpen my putty skills......hmmmm A look at the WD Golden Demon Sisters would definitly be good. So far I've tried to replace the standard marines shoulder pads with squareish ones but not getting a decent result.
Pictures will follow as soon as I'm able.

Instead of Banshees I'd use the regular Eldar Guardians for the rank & file Sisters. They're a LOT easier to get hold of as there's much more of them in an infantry sprue, and a simple head swap with a regular IG grunt will do wonders as their armor is very similar. The latest E40k era guardians even have some kind of loincloth which is a passable imitation of the robes the sisters wear.
If you want better results you can: -file the grunt's helmet a bit to make an impression of long hair -re-sculpt the shuriken catapult to resemble a bolter -add backpack -add some, erm, curves...}
And so on. Oh, and don't forget that posting pics is mandatory...

Yes I know, in fact I was wondering if I should post at all without them. Hopefully I can borrow the work one over the next couple of days.
Yes! Guardians are a possibility, lot of work tho' and I have so little time.....sigh. I've only got SM/SM2 ones so not sure what the loincloth thing is like.
Thanks for the ideas, definite food for thought, just what I'd been missing.

Well, you can attach a single file to each of your posts, up to 153kb... you don't need a host.

That's good, I'll try that. Borrowing the work camera Thurs so should have something up on Fri. Not that the standard is particularly good (painting or converting) comparing to those here but hopefully get some feedback/ideas. BTW WD mentioned boxes of the new bases but there's nothing on their online store. Any idea how to get hold of some?

You can make your own from plasticard (or used up phone cards - chip cards are a little thick, but magnetic cards should do well).

Hi!
I think a member called Darius from the netepic list has actually made conversion for the SOB in epic.
I'll drop him a line to see if he has any pictures.

Primarch,
Darius was interested in selling his SoBs a few years back. I took a look and wanst very interested. He mostly had a lot of proxy vehicles with some regular Marines.
Of course, it's entirely possible that I haven't seen his entire collection.
Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak.

Justiniel, if you like I can set up an account for you on a free web server I know is good and might even code up a site for you (I'm in a generous mood right now).

Generous, I'm overwhelmed, and if there's anything I can do in return just let me know.
Am borrowing work's camera tonight so hopefully can find out how macro works and get some pics up, bear in mind that it's WIP, not even based yet but feedback would be great, it gets kinda lonely out here!
Thanks again to all.
PS just ordered my IG air wing, tornados and valks to start so more painting to be done when they get here.
