I have tried searchng and have not succeeded too well

Does anyone know of a reasonable priced source of bases that fit in with the newer GW Epic bases (the 40x12), ideally with inserts to plug the figures into.

I already have some of the Exodus War ones but the number required would be extensive and rather expensive.

My preferance is to keep near to GW size's as thats what I alread have for a large portion of my armies.

As Last resort I may end up using some 1mm Ply I have, and fillup around the cylinder bases (a mix of Dark Realm, Exodus Wars, and some GW figures)

Any advice would be greatly received

(Rule set in use is a slight variation of the SoW set which is a fantastic baseline)

Use 2 layers of 1mm plastic sheeting stuck together, with holes drilled in the top layer.

Same as Apoc, except I use magnetic sheeting for the bottom layer. I get mine through Litko. Alternatively, you can see if anyone around here has some spare bases.

If you go this route, you can use a 1/4" hole punch made for paper to punch out your base sockets. Your hand will ache for a while afterwards, but it works.

I do have that as a backup method, but over 500 holes is not a nice thought

You can drill through plasticard and wood too, that's what I did. If you tape 20 bases together and drill through them those 500 holes become 25.

It isn't as bad as it sounds. Ive done that many with a hand drill for bases before, the plastic is thing and you can get through them fairly quickly. If you are using a drill (rather than a hole punch) you can also stack a lot of top layers up together and drill a whole bunch in one go.

I use 1.5mm litko bases - 20x20mm for infantry, 20x40mm for vehicles, 40x40mm for super heavies. Then to fill in the space between base and figure bases, I use black lave pumice gel by Vallejo - its awesome. Builds up the base and adds a nice "dirt" texture to it. You can get a variety of colors. I use black simply because I nearly always prime in black.

Here's an example of it on one of my own figures:

(the dark gravel is the pumice, with a a light dry brush of grey) I finish it off with random patches of fine grass flock.

You could also make a few bases and cast the rest. They'd only need simple 1 part molds.

A few other options nobodies mentioned.

- order an ork warband, 44 stands for 13.80 (31.3p per base), plus you can sell on the sprues
- Ebay for bases normaly 30 will go for £3-£4

- DRM, (25p per base) http://www.darkrealmminiatures.co.uk/st ... php?cat=32

Hello to everybody,

I am making some bases typified " death korps of krieg " for me and some friends of the French community...

If people of TC want it, I can make some additional editions...

Photos of my bases in my gallery Picasa ( signature)
