Greetings Broodlings!

Okay, I've gone over the v9.2 document and done some updating/refining.  I *hope* I got all the typos!

Unit Changes:

-Vituperator gets FF4+ and can carry Zoanthropes
-Synapse Node back to 4DC
-Hormagaunts lose first strike (as was intended when giving them an extra attack)

---

Army List Changes

-Assault Swarm - additional Tyranid Warriors available as an upgrade
-Common Broods - clusters increased to four units
-Ravener Cluster - upped to 125 points for four

I think that's about it... so... get out there and playtest the slime outta this thing!

Why the Ravener price increase?  I'm not sure why I would take a Ravener Cluster.  For the same price I could take ~7 Gaunts.  The Gaunts would have equal attacks in an assault even in optimal conditions and (with 4 Termie/3 Hormie) better in most cases.  The Gaunts would count less for kills compared to the number of Raveners that would fail armor saves at similar numbers of hits.  The Raveners' only benefit would be taking slightly less damage per shot when crossing the board but would still be wiped out by fewer hits on average than the Gaunts.

I can understand 35 points each in the Tunneler Swarm as the Raveners get to Tunnel and the choices for beefing the swarm are very limited.  In the Cluster, I don't think they are worth that much.

Well, the Raveners are making two attacks at CC3+ vs CC5+ on Hormies, they get the same FF5+ as Termagants though; they're also Warrior-Guards...

They seem better than 25 points a pop, but not quite 35 and definitely not 50, so four for 125 seemed about right to me.

Well, I suppose it's up to testing, then.

Great job, Chroma. Will try this as soon as possible (with pics and reports this time).

Yes.  And I think Chroma's right: one of the reasons to take raveners is to soak up attacks on the LV (and AV) synapses.

The issue is that this tactical use is difficult to price out without significant testing.

Thanks for the update. Looks good so far.  :))

Like Neal, I'm not sold on Raveners at 125 pts, but I'll test & report as soon as possible. I also noticed that the Assault Group is now at 125 pts instead of 150. Probably a good call now that they are LVs and that Raveners cost more.

Thank you, Chroma! You made nearly every change I would have made! Unfortunately, neither my friends nor I have Nid minis, but I think I will proxy up a horde to give this list a try.

I am especially glad that Hormagaunts lost First Strike. Now they are on par with the Termagaunts IMHO.

Also, I think that Raveners are fine at 125 pts. I like it that the Common broods now all have different point costs. Makes filling the last remaining points easier.

All in all, good work.  :agree:

I'm sure this has been asked before, but can brood units in independent swarms
(gargoyles, raveners, trygons) claim objectives?

Dangit... I always miss one thing... the "(Not Brood units)" part of T5.1.1. Objectives should've been removed.

Independent Swarms and Synapse Units are what can control or contest objectives.

Will hopefully get a game tonight vs Squats/Demiurg so be interesting to see CC vs Shooty death. Will take some pics and try and remember to note down any queries/occurrences.

Don't forget to bring some Game Log Sheets to record the battle!

Got 'em printed out and ready to go.

Sadly now it will just be Marines and not Squats as the squat player could not make it.
