For the longest time I had been selling on Ebay, and for the past year it has gotten to be more work then I can handle. Working more then 50 hours a week at my current job does not allow for any other hobbies. I did finally manage to compose a partial list of items and I was hoping someone could take a quick glance thru it and tell me what they estimate the value to be, and how best to break it down into managable sets. At this time the list only includes the loose metal miniatures (mostly unpainted). My next list will be for sealed blister packets (around 100-200). Then possibly a list of the infantry sprues. I also have a number of boxed sets of the basic games in various conditions.
Hopefully the list is not to long. The first number is just an item number I made up, followed by the description. (*) indicates the number of models in a set. The last number indicates the number of sets. At this time, I am not looking to sell anything, so please do not make requests yet. I am really just looking for ideasas to the best way to break the stuff down into nice size, sellable sets.

Personally I would sell them individually. You will make more money that way.
Use eBay's Turbo Lister to create the listings rather than listing them individually. You could take your time over this as Turbo Lister is designed to be used offline
List them all on one go.
Wait the seven days (or whatever). Spend a day packing and labelling them and there you go.

Keep that list here, and put it on Epic Yahoo and Bartertown ... but don't be surprised if many of those get snatched up here ! I'll forward to Doug !

Thanks for the responces so far. I will have to look around and see what prices some of these items are going for and try and put prices to every piece. I use to sell them on ebay as small lots but there are a number of reasons I stopped
1. It would take months and hours of time (not only do you need to list, but package each item)
2. The Ebay fees are rather heavy, I think I estimated about 20 percent of the winning bid would end up going to Ebay and paypal in many cases.
Anyway keep the ideas comming

Ship the whole pile to me, give me a cut of anything we get from ebay. I will then list and sell them along with pictures for you. You will make slightly less that way, but the work will be less too.

Does anyone have good methods of pricing the miniatures. My first impulse would be to search the complete Ebay listings and base prices on the past auctions. Then take the average price and use that as my starting price.
Any imput would be great.

First, ask yourself why are you selling this. If it is because you want out and would like to see it gone, then you are putting too much into this. Sell it at a good offer and be done.
If you are doing this to "make a profit". then in that case, go ahead and do the hours of leg work involved to do a data gathering and analysis. However, that does not make sense as you have already complained about the time you would need to spend posting this to ebay.
It sounds like you want to sell, but are afraid you will not get top dollar. Well, you will not. Now that that is settled, you will get close by breaking this up and selling it as individual auctions on ebay. Relist once any auction that does not sell. After that, gather the left over and send it to one of the good folks on this board to clear it out of your house.
The fact is, ebay will force the items selling price to at least a good price based on the market place. No one allows an auction to go for less then it is worth unless it is either a) miss listed, or b) too much junk in one auction. So do not try and sell it in large chunks unless you just want to clear it out.

Thanks Dafrca.
I am not exactly looking for top dollar, but at the same time I am not looking to just get rid of it. The problem with Ebay is not the listing and organizing, it is the shipping and boxing of the items. I found that if you list 100 differant auctions, you often have 25-40 seperate winners. Some of them win a good pile of auctions but over have usually just win 1.
I think my plan for now is to do a bit of searching today, try and determine a price for each lot, then have a friend review it and see what he thinks. After I do that, I will post the list here for people to have the first shot at bidding. Then bartertown and yahoo.
Thanks again for all the imput. I will let you know when I have pricing set.

Hi!
Figure out what is the total amount you'd like to make overall. Then break them down in Lots that are not too large, but not small enough to cost you too much shipping.
You could make lots of one army each, or if thats to large break each army down in no more than 2-3 lots.

I'm drooling looking at this list. When you do start selling, I'm VERY interested in some things.
