I'm planning to start painting my Tau

Just wondering if anyone thought about a Tau Titan?

Back in the days of Tau concept "talks", IIRC, the Manta is their "Flying Titan" !  It certainy has the firepower !  Notice they have no FA either, and make up for it with CAS. The Tau way of war ...  IMO, they are the most hi-tech force in the game. The Eldar are next, but a bit "old school", by comparison. :)  I'd be interested in how a TAU vs. Eldar game would go ?  My money is on the T&K ! :;):

I had the same sort of idea, Titans just don't seem to fit in with the Tau background, the Mantas fill the slot nicely.

IIRC, Jervis stated pretty clearly (in his design guidelines for Epic Tau)
that they wouldn't have any 'big walkers' (ie, Titans) - the Manta is what fills that role.

...of course for those who wish to follow their own path to the greater good can adjust the background to suit their own needs, and can create Tau Titans, the battlesuits are an obvious choice.

So as the background stands and from what Jervis says no Tau Titans.... However you don't have to obey everything that Jervis says and is in Codex Tau, you can *adjust* the background for your own games.

So for your own games you can have Tau Titans though playing competitive games at Warhammer World maybe not...

My mate Simon converted a Tau Battlesuit to be an Imperial Titan...

Hi!

I'm with Jimbo on this one and this has been a question brought up on the netepic list as well as several other forums. A Tau suit would be EXELLENT for a tau titan. In fact I'm mentioning this on the netepic list to get reactions.

Good one Jimbo!

Hi!

It seems the discussion will be interesting.

As usual, the "gut" response was "well thats not in the GW fluff"....

Using your line Jimbo, "you don't have to obey everything that Jervis says and is in Codex Tau, you can *adjust* the background for your own games." I just bashed it on thier heads and am waiting for the replies..... :;):

Seriously that one line you posted pretty much captures what NetEpic is all about. Heck I even quoted it as being good for our "charter".......

..pending your approval of our use of your IP..... :;): :p

A single line generally can not be copyrighted, it needs to be

It can be trademarked though...

:p

However in this case feel free to use, abuse and distribute as much as possible.

It's a great line Jimbo and one that I generally agree with, just look at any of my armies :D (Sisters with their own Warhound anyone  ) however Titans still don't fit into whatever MY conception of the Tau is, I would have no problem fighting against a Tau army with one, in fact I'd be delighted.
Battle Suits do seem to be the way forward on this issue, scaling down some of the 'gubbins' could be fun. :D

Ditto - I like the flying beastie-fish feel of the Tau, and would myself not opt for a Titau; but I wouldn't mind anyone using one - interesting, in fact. I wouldn't be sure about the use of 40K suits as a basis for conversion though, unless HEAVILY converted.  :D

Mm... I agree with Vanvlak; I prefer keeping to the fluff, but it would be interesting if done well; using 40k bits in different scales I always find myself thinking that things can just look out of place and scale, but it is an interesting idea..
As ever, do what works for you. :)

Hi Guys,

The same thing happened with the early Necron list... most ideas for new units were quickly shot down... :(

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
