Whee! Has anybody else had trouble when you started to use eBay? I've so far dished out some ?100+. During the first month.  And I have about as many auctions active at the moment.

My latest purchases include 2 Superheavy tank companies, Tyranids and a couple of Eldar titans & vehicles.  :o

The problem for me isn't actually ebay its when the person who listed the auction you just won goes:

"Oh, by the way, I also have these I haven't listed yet. Are you interested?"

I had one $10 auction turn into a $600 auction that way.  ???

I'm so weak sometimes... :D

Yes- its is very addictive.

Recently I was bidding on just over 100 auctions. Mind you that included minimum bids on some Heroclix/Mageknight/Mechwarrior stuff.

I bought 2 large amounts of mint Epic A IG/SM tanks from the States, some BFG SM strike cruisers & 1 battlebarge, quite a few IG SHT companies. Plus shared some E40k era Chimera variants with Magnus. Plus some really nicely painted IG stuff from Tuffskull himself- I will finally have a CI and also a Leviathan.

After that brief splurge in January, where I spent most of my holiday back pay,    I am now trying to calm dow and only pick up stuff that I am still short of.

Its very easy to get carried away, especially when you are angry at having been outbid towards the end of the auction. Its easier said than done but you have to work out the maxmum ammount you would be prepared to pay for something and then walk away if the price exceeds your limit.

Enjoy the SHT's!! :D

Cheers

James

Good work Mojarn, I tolled up a similar amount in just over a month - but put a stop then - it IS addictive, and I was also wasting loads of time. Some I'm now out... in fact I'm not buying models at the moment, except for the still awaited Aeronefs.

Stay far far away from EBay.....financial ruin can result.  I have gone looking for one particular thing and wound up bidding and bidding and bidding....you get the picture.  The only safe way is abstinence....stay away!  Unless you have money to burn.... :O :O :O

Incidentally - how did you guys fare with ebay? In my one month+ using it I've not had any bad experience, although in one instance a mailing address was changed after I posted a bank draft, and another draft went awol for two months! Doug helped me out with a third transaction (Thanks again Doug). The sellers were good blokes though, and delivered without any trouble. Ebay without paypal can be a bit stressful, though. Any thoughts? ???

The one thing I have problems with is that once you DO have PayPal it immediately overrides your eBay shipping address with the PayPal "home" address for each transaction you pay with it. One Tempest _may_ be shipped to wrong address because of that.

Once I noticed and corrected the PayPal "home" address I have had no problems. Other than wasting a ton of money, that is.  :(

Good news: I have managed to cut down the spending on epic minis.

Bad news:
Now that I won the bid and am a proud owner of ALL of the Man O'War boxed sets I have started to cast greedy glances towards the Man O'War auctions. Lo and behold: the number of said auctions has risen from some 46 to 74 during the weekend. It must be a conspiracy...  :o  :oo  :l

My tyranid army is off to good start.

So far I have acquired:
2 Dominatrix (what on EARTH is the plural form of this anyway?)
4 Hive Tyrants (Hive Queens in Net Epic)
2 brood of Dactylis (ditto)
A brood of Malefactors
2 broods of Exocrines
2 broods of Carnifexes (Carnifeci? Razorfexes in Net Epic)
A brood of Biovores
2 broods of Zoanthropes
A Harridan
3 Trygons
4 plastic sprues + some loose plastics
3 Biotitans

A total of some 5500 points. Nowhere near a Primarchload but it's a start.  :)

My latest haul was a bargain: 2 BIOTITANS, 1 NEEDS REPAIR ON FRONT LEGS DUE TO BROKEN POSE CONVERSION. 3 WELL PAINTED HIVE TYRANTS. DOMINATRIX. HARRIDAN. 3 BIOVORES. 4 ZOANTHROPES. 5 CARNIFEX'S, 1 MISSING AN ARM. 1 TRYGON. 3 DACTYLIS. 2 TANK SIZED BIG GUNS, WHO'S NAME I CAN'T REMEMBER. 2 PLASTIC LICTORS, 1 GENESTEALER STAND, 2 TYRANID WARRIOR STANDS, 6 TERMAGANT STANDS. All this for ?19.50.    The Biotitans alone are worth that.

Nice work Mojarn! Good price, too. But being the boss Squat you are, I get the feeling that GW fluff on disappearance of the Squats is going to become reality at this rate! :p
It's Dominatrices and Carnifices....I guess.

Considering that My Squat army is well on its way to 30000 points (the Squats got a Megacannon battery, an Overlord & a Gyrocopter Squadron) I'd not be worried...  :;):
