Hey there everyone. Despitet he fact I don't play games, I am still obsessed with buying them. In particular box sets. I hate when companies don't release a starter set of some kind that gives you a place to put all your rules and minis, as opposed to storing and carrying everything in a make-shift box of some sort.
So the other day I went to a hobby store and I discovered the new Warlord Deluxe Set by Reaper Games. At first I thought it didn't look all that exciting, but it was a compact package (like a huge College textbook) and came with two starter armies. I was also impressed with the Crusader Warlord Gerard and the Warlord Vampire Judas, both sold seperately from the box set.
I wasn't too impressed with the contents at first, and couldn't make quick sense of the rules. I thought the minis were sub-par with other stuff out right now (GW, or Rackham), but when I picked up some others I was very satisfied with them. he only thing is that the painters for Reaper Games suck, and they took some great looking minis and made them look retarded.
Anyway, the set comes with the same rulebook you can buy seperately, and few dice, getting started sheet, and two 'armies' of 11 guys each. It is a skirmish game and the mechanics are pretty easy to learn once you go online and visit Reaper's forum! LOL. The rulebook is kind of hard to digest to me, and I don't know why. Maybe it's cause I have ADD!
At any rate, because I just liek to buy a box set, adn then a few extra minis, I love Warlord. Obviously it doesn't pack the punch of GW games, but it's a cool little skirmish game that is easy to play. I chopped up the foam in the box a little and managed to fit everything else I bought for it.
Check it out. I think you guys will like it.
Also, I picked up an un-opened copy of Space Hulk 2nd edition because I couldn't pass it up and WOW! All I had was first and I didn't like it. I completely missed this the first time around back in 1996, and glad I snagged it. I love buying older games that are unopened. It's like Christmas.
What else. . . oh, picked up the Catacombs of Terror for Warhammer Quest with buy-it now for $35. Unopened. Usually goes for $80+.
Finally, if you haven't picked up Rackham's Hybrid do it while it is still around. One of the best games I've seen in awhile. I don't it'll be around for much longer but if you do get it, you'll want the expansion set Nemesis as well. Trust me.
See ya. Can someone change my ID to KTG? Thanks.
