LI is releasing a liber tactica which will replace all 3 previous separate army list books as well as the formation and detachment cards in the core rule book.

It is 280 pages , so you wil just store those old army books. Also new army card for auxilia, astartes, and mechanicum. Then on the first release are box sets for 4 whirlwind& 4 Scorpius, 4 x Typhon, 4 x Cerberus, 2 x Mastadon, 8 x Vindicators, To complete this ne release is a pack of 72 order counters probably in plastic so you can paint them up.

rumour mill have been postulating on mechanicus ordinatus, mechanicus fliers, mechanicus light walker/striders. Auxilia capitol imperialis, missile launcher artillery, gorgon seige transport. Astartes, Fellblades, Falchions, Glaive, Breacher marines. Most of these could be released.

The whirlwind has been rumoured/hinted at to be a ranged weapon capable of ignoring cover and able to kill off more infantry garrisoning building if there are more inside.

After picking up all of the three - now out of date - books, I have to admit that this is really irritating. GW deliberately held units back so that they could then justify putting out books that we had to buy to get some of the pretty basic and core units in the game, only to now make all of those book outdated and largely worthless, and we are still getting core units that were not available on the release of the game. While I am too far into Epic and 6mm/8mm scale 40K games to rage quit just now, this is not helping GW sell me on the idea of Horus Heresy v3!

Yeah, I was a bit miffed about that as well. Then they released the minis for the saturnine stuff and the legion super heavies. If you look at the Imperial fists special rules, there are also a lot of infantry GW has not released. IF get rerolls for infANtry lascannons and Plasma Cannons if on First fire orders.

This means that we still have support lascannons and plasma cannons. Then there are the breachers from the ols 30K 28/32mm game history. I am sure they will release new stuff for mechanicum, and we have not even looked (if they ever do) at xenos like Eldar and Orks).

I still love the game and the new mission make it intersting. I played a game against Imoerial fists last weekend, and my Alpha Legion and World eaters list were head to head. He could almost never miss, and in close combat I wiped out 4 of his units in close combat with my world eaters re-rolls, and leviathan rend attacks. I lost by 7 points, So on the way the points were calculated it was a close one.

I also got 5th place in the last CanCon LI tournament. Jezza won, and he is ne of the top rated players. - knows his stuff. Considering I was rolling badly for 2 of the games, I did well. Tactics played a big part.

The minis come up realy nice when painted. I have been painting for 40 years, and my army is mostly batch painted. Even so they are really pretty on the table.

My only complaint about the saturnine pack is there are too many commnader stands. I owuld have preferred more terminator infantry stands. I love the fellblades, and the Falchion is nasty withs it beam weapon. Normally a tank/SH tanks can only pick one target, but point defence weapons can choose another target, and the beam a third target. This means it can shoot 3 separate targets.

I found out at CanCon that I really hate the Warlord Sinister. It has so many nasty ignores invul saves psi weapons and it has a lot of different weapons including a heavy beam weapon that can pass through and even bring down buildings. Thankfully the sinister is really point expensive and most tournaments limit them to 1 only.

Also morale is different to the way Epic Armageddon does it. No more having to hide because you lose a stand automatically for each blast marker placed on the unit. Before if I had a broken unit with 3 stands and failed 1 save the whole lot are gone. 1 for the blast marker for being shot at, one for the failed save, and a 3rd for the second blast marker for losing a unit.

Morale is handled way differemt. If the formaton is broken, you can only issue advance or charge orders even if a commander is attached or near by. Any morale tests are at a minus, and if defeated in close combat while broken you are auto destroyed. Only fearless or mechanical constructs who have no morale do not die off if they lose the combat. They also do not have to withdraw at the end of a close combat if they lose, they sit there and get pounded holding their opponents up.

The rule book is also written badly like most GW/Warhammer rule books with you having to flip from one sectoio to another with small references to the next hing you want to find or look up noted somewhere in the paragraph. They really need to look at including a decent index at the back like most of the Battletech rule books have. It would make playing the early learning a lot games faster.

Once you get to know the game though it is fast and just as easy to play as EA, and many other massed combat games.
