Hey all. I am slowly putting together my imperial fleet. I ordered the boxed game a couple of weeks ago and have yet to receive it. I am pretty bummed about that. I really need the rules and break down of the game and models before I can complete construction of my ships. My fleet currently consists of five ships. Emperor, retribution, vengence, and two cruisers. My question is where should I go from here? I was thinking of a few more capitol ships then, getting a slew of smaller support ships. I hope I get the game this week. If not then, I am really screwed. I need to know what the weapons the models come with are. I can't really configure the ships until I get this info. Anyway, I have plans for some conversions and I am starting some designs for a station. I am pretty excited about getting into this game. Although I have no one to play. My current partner in epic doesn't like spaceship games.

Signius,

My local shop, which is going out of business, has at least two boxed sets and they're at 30% to 35% off.

Let me know...

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

P.S.
I think that the Imperial fleets are good no matter what combo you use. I personally like escorts.

Signius,

You really need to get yourself some escorts.  You will find the added support for your cruisers and attack possibilities will really enhance your fleet's potential.  The exact type will depend on what your style is...

Personally I am a big fan of Cobras- 2 squadrons of these can catch a cruiser or battleship target in a brutal crossfire of torpedoes.

Firestorms are my next best as the additional lance batteries can be very useful to strip shields for your big guys or inflict additional dmaage after your cruiser broadsides

I cant stress enough how useful the escorts are- I have about 8 squadrons of differing types.  The can scrren, attack and aid defence with their turrets against a carrier threat.  Do yourselkf a favour and buy some

Dauntless Light crusers! 3 of them with lances. Trust me they can take down many ships :)
Just make sure they stick together :p

True, a pair of Dauntless CLs can cripple any cruiser when properly handled.  They are fragile though...

I still think your priority needs to be frigates and destroyers

Yes, true. I plan to buy 3 dauntless cruisers. I am also going to pick up 2 or three blisters of each supprot ship to start with and go from there.

Hey all

I?ve just started an IG fleet and just wanted to know if you can take the nova cannon off ships which are equipped with it. If you can take it off does the ship have prow mounted torps or is it left with nothing?.

The reason why I ask is that I really hate the nova cannon because I can never guess the range right and sadly I have to admit to hitting my own ships

Some ships its optionl, others there is no choice.  where it soptional its laid out in the rulebook and tells you what it is replaced with, yes- usually torp tubes.

My opponets were scared witless about Novas to the extent they would spreda right out to avoid its worst effects.  Thats when I would show up with none fitted and cut them apart in torpedo crossfire...nasty!

Yo might want to look at the experimental rules for the Nova in the Annual. Basically, it can be treated as a normal weapon, which scatters instead of the nasty guess work.

Yeah Signius, lots more escorts I think, and some more cruisers- with two battleships and a grand cruiser, you'll be wanting lots.... I have 14 cruisers in total just for my 2 battleships! I think that the Sword is a great little ship.. Especially with a squadron of them supporting a battleship or a few cruisers... Cobras are great too.... :)

Escorts!!!! More emphasis has been put on them now than before. The old battle reports from Warp Storm only had about 5 in a 2000pts fleet!!!

On the subject of escorts, has anyone used the Falchion yet?

Cheers

Chris
