Yes, that's the one I have Jimbo.

It is huge... about the size of a 40K Rhino! Very neat! ?

I must get a camera! :D ?

I have:
- 1 MT-28,
- 2 MT-15s,
- 1 MT-17,
- 2 of the old limited run G/W Dropships (!) and
- a converted Jap Animae (sp.?) Shuttle, in my SW Drop Rgt.                                      Oh, and a converted AMT Star Wars M/Falcon with my Traitor SMs.

I'll probably add the new E-A SM Dropship to my SW Rgt. :;): ?

I like Dropships, Drop Pods, T/hawks etc. ... must remind me of my past in the 101! :D ?

And in keeping with SM-1 rules, all my Dropships are armed. A C-130 would never make an assault landing (Entebbe ?!), it's a tactical transport. IIRC, most of my jumps were from 130s? ??? (OT Alert- never mind !)

Hi all ...

thanks Maksim for the link, found the site via google :-) , but not the one with the dropships. I think i will buy some of gzg's dropships, they look really cool, the old crow ones are cheaper, but I think they lack some detail.
Thanks for the useful infos ..

Regards

Sven

Hello L4.
Of course your right on the c-130 issue, I was going to add some kind of minimal fire power but not too much! Even the loverly Orca only gets twin burst cannons.
With luck the LZ will be at least semi secure when the boys land what with the stormtroopers and the penal detachments holding the position.
I have decieded to use old crow dropships any suggestions on fire power for these babies?
Cheers.

Oh, and a converted AMT Star Wars M/Falcon with my Traitor SMs.

Just a thought - in the Star Wars universe the Chaos forces would probably be portrayed in a very sympathetic light....

Interesting mix of 'rebels' there L4!

Sure P/B adding some firepower to assault landers is good idea, even Hueys/Blackhawks have MGs.

Based on my training/experiences as a Rifle PL and then Bn Air Ops Officer in the 101. Prep the LZ with FA, Airstrikes (CAS), etc., lead with gunships hosing down the LZ, then as the troop ships land, have the gunships orbit the LZ, lending firepower where needed and you could always call in FA & CAS again.

This techinque can be used in Epic, I've done it! :;): ?

It's fun!

For your Old Crow Landers (which are nice pieces), the SM-1 Dropships had one heavy weapon (Plasma Cannon) and two Heavy Bolters, IIRC. ?

I would suggest maybe, H/Bolters or Scatter Lasers, if you don't want to go too heavy.

And Yes, Tom, my Traitor SMs and Chaos Cultists (with their OGREs) are an eclectic lot! :D

Hi ...

just browsed the net and found a cool dropship. This thing is really, really big (2ft/630mm long). I don't think you can use it with the current rules effectivley, but surely it would be a nice piece of scenery/ eyecatcher on the battlefield if properly painted

Here's the link:

Gundam Assualt Landing Craft

or search in the net after gundam battleship assault landing craft scv-70

Man, I just imagine my warlords and reavers together with a russ company disembarking from this monster :-)

Regards

Sven

Hi!

Thats one big model Sven!

..and pricey too. But it does fit the part of something actual warlords would fit into!

And it is 1/400 scale model, so can you imagine if it was built to scale? Man, that would be large.  :p

That seems a pretty close approxamation of the tatics that I will be employing, but some how I feel it will be more like Dien Bien Phu than Crete while I learn.Poor troops }:)

Wow! That is a BIG dropship!

That would be a battle in itself! ?

And P/Bn, either way there will be a lot of casualties! :o ?

Airborne/Air Assault Forced Entry Ops aren't known for keeping casualties down! :l

I have been looking strongly at the Old Crow Armored Dropship. Simple look, but nice shape.

Here is a photo: http://www.oldcrowmodels.co.uk/6mm/dropship/armourl.gif

However, if I thought for even a moment I could still get the GZG Large drop ship, I would.

Dafrca,

You can still get the GZG dropship from Mech Depot or GZG.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Shalom,

They list the platoon level drop ship, but I did not see the company level one. I will have to go back and review again. ???

Edit: I am talking about item #MT-28 Super Heavy Dropship Interface Lander. (It was like the size of a 28mm Rhino).

It is not listed on the GZG store site. The numbers skip MT-28.  :{

Dafrca,

I beleive that GZG still has it by request or that they changed the code.

Mech Depot DEFINITELY has it!  :D

I have a copy myself although I haven't built mine yet.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
