Ok guys, on my way home from the tournament in Gothenburg now. I had 3 matches with 3 wins giving me the 1st place in the tournament.
Theres definitly (can't spell that word correct, to much wine has been consumed) some things in this list that we need to discuss. I did 3 battle reports which will be put up on the forum in the next few days. REALLY interested in how the 3 Gargant players fared at CanCon!

Congrats on win. Will be interesting to see your thoughts on how OGBM fared vs tournament armies.

Spoiler alert!

Using Epic UK BielTan I was able to strike 13(!) power fields of the GG and 8 DC.

Unfortunately I flunked a Strategy roll and was thus demolished rather than hitting the blasted thing with combined aspect host-avatar assault backed up with another (damaged) aspect host and guardian host in supporting position. Go big or go home to bag the GG, am I right? Alas, it proved to be too many eggs in one basket.

Great work and unfortunate to lose the Strategy roll - That's exactly what you need to do though, out activate the Gargants, concentrate fire and then swoop in with the assault or a fresh round of shooting after winning the Strategy Roll, but getting that BTS is a BIG ask.

Yes, that was an epic and glorious moment which had both me and Karegak giggling with anticipation. "Do or die" was a very appropriate phrase for that assault, and die they did the fragile little elves...

Ok guys. I've done write-ups of all my 3 games from the Harbor City Siege tournament last weekend.

Here they are:

vs Squats: viewtopic.php?f=84&t=32109

vs LatD Redux: viewtopic.php?f=84&t=32110

vs Biel-Tan: viewtopic.php?f=84&t=32111

Please check them out if you're interested!

I will return with my general thoughts on the performance of the list later. Doing three write ups in one day made me a little tired to be honest.
But we definitly have to discuss the Supa-stompas i think!

Interesting reports.

Would it be correct to categorize your 3 opponents as a newbie, someone with an AP-biased list, and someone who had never played with an Eldar army before?

Might the Squat game have gone differently with less atypical luck (less Stompa rallies, more failed save rolls) or was it a cert anyway?

Actually it was my second game of Eldar. ;)

Considering how the GG was far enough away from the rest of the mob that I could engage it unsupported I figured that it was now or never. The option would have been staying away and playing for a draw which would lead to a) a boring game and b) a less interesting playtest I think. Had I won that Strat roll (yes, I know it was less likely seeing as I already had initiative, but once again, that was weighted in against the GG being virtually alone). I guess I could have tried a combined assault with 2 x aspects and the avatar, supported by the guardians instead but since I lost the strat roll the end result would have been the same in any case.

Well, as Karegak pointed out almost like that anyways! :-)

Yes, The crazy dice in the game against the squats really skewed the data i think. 1 or 2 Supa stompas should have fallen to that amount of battle cannons. And that would probably had led to me not being able to deny T&H objective at least...

The Supa-stompas really where worth every point with their MW barrages. Being able to always put atleast 2 BMs on a formation was very good. The list was made with getting lots of them in without doing an extreme list that wouldn't work in a tournament (with to little activations, no airplanes etc). and 3 of them where really dangerous for all opponents.
A great gargant is supposed to be pretty damn hard to deal with, but you pay alot of points bringing it. For 325 points (25p dor "extra armour bits" upgrade) the Supa-Stompas felt very, very good.

I'm not going to decide anything until I hear the results from CanCon and how the three Gargant players did there (i thought CanCon was last weekend also, but it's this coming weekend). And I'll also ask my regular opponent take my turnament list and play against me using Marines i think (not an optimized SM list but a pretty competetive build anyways).
None of my three opponents really went for aggresivly picking off my small stuff as is wise to do when facing titan lists. I would like to see how that tactic would work against my tournament list...

Hmm all of those apply to me

Mordoten, would you mind if i upload your battles with this list to http://www.redsilico.com/armystats/race.cgi ? To have them more at hand than the statistics i made, and also help that compendium of battles.

And do any of you mind if i do the same with the other battles with this list published in the forum?

Got another game in tonight against Steve54 and his eldar, at GWHQ no less!

Didnt take any pics, pressed for time but I took the same list as before, swapping out a kan formation for a second set of planes, game ended as a 2-0 win to me (BTS, TSNP) after Steve's BTS aspects got critted out of the sky, and his second set bounced off the great gargant, I was lucky to break his final falcon formation and have them not rally in my half to give me the win

Steve said after that in a tournament game he'd have basically sat and waited for me to come to him instead of getting stuck in like he did, neither of us have any complaints about the list at all, sorry for the lack of pics but I was using warhounds as proxy supa stompas thanks to forgetting them, and we were using 40k terrain so it was a bit slapdash ;)
