Me and Partisan_Nick decided to do a little different battle report with the Gargants. The idea came from some discussions on the OGBM thread where some people was arguing that the AMTL would probably rip the OGBM apart in a head to head match.
So me and Nick decided that i would assemble 2 lists that was geared for taking out titans and then Nick would choose which one to play.
Nick choose to play AMTL and this was his first time playing them.

Here are our lists:

Gargant Bigmob (3.3.1 - Developmental)

God Killers, 3000 POINTS
Legio Gryphonicus (NetEA v3.24 *APPROVED*)
==================================================

Post-battle thoughts:

Well, that was unexpeted! I thought the AMTL would thrash the Gargants.

But the abysmall rolls for Nick really f-ed up his game today. For everytime he shot with his 2 volcano cannon equipped Reavers, 1 would always miss (on a 1)! Just once during the whole game did he manage to hit with both Volcano cannons and then only did 3DC of damage.
So the dice where really cruel to Nick this evening.

The fires from the "Push em harder ladz" move caused 4DC of damage during the game and killed 1 gargant off.

Nick did a mistake in the setup and put his Warhound outside the AA-bubble. This quickly led to me killing it off and stealing away 1 crucial activation for him.
He also moved up a little to close so i could engage him. But since he didn't really know the "push em" rule so good this was understandable.
Also the last SC reroll should have been saved for the broken Reaver. If that would have rallied it had gone to point and the Gargants would have probably on with something like 1000-750 points or close to that.

This was Nicks first time playing the AMTL.

I rolled high numbers of shields for all the gargants (8,8,7 and 6).

Fun and fast game! With some better to hit rolls and some more cautious movements to stay outside my engagement range i think Nick would have killed off atleast 1 Gargant nore and thus being able to win on points.

Interesting report, a bit surprised at the AMTL Loudout and list. Dangerously low on activations that can contribute late game.

interesting lists, were they (or at least the AMTL) made specifically tailored to other titan lists? lot of volcano cannons to bring to an open party and no CCWs!

Yes, both lists where tailored for that. The AMTL list was geared to rain hot fiery titan death over the Garhants from afar.
Gargant wespons was for stripping shields, they already have more dice in assaults (due to more DC) and lead by +1 resolution from the start (more dc).

Gaaah, My first post got eaten by the internet due to auto-log out from the forum...

But Mordoten covered most of it. The lists are odd due to the point of the battle beeing to try out pure Titan vs. Gargant warfare. I was afraid that the Gargants would loose badly but that was not the case at all. I made a huge mistake in placing my expensive War hound on the extreme flank outside the AA-bubbles (I am so used to using them with my Death Corps/IG so it's almost an auto-placement). When I lost my only fast element the objective game became a lot more difficult and I had to close in with the Gargants.

As noted the Gargants really rule the engagements vs. Ravers with +1 resolution, 2 more attacks and 2 more wounds. While I as a unexperienced pniceps commander probably did not focus my fire power enough. The Gargants can take a LOT of punishment so it was actually an unusually un bloody battle for beeing Epic, only 3 ground units and a few planes killed.

Still it was a fun and different game and I look forward to a re-match, possibly with a few more support units.

I still think the ork gargants could use better guns though. With always doubling the tend to not hit anything at all, not even Titans... :-)
