I'm just wondering if there is an "official" colour scheme for the Scions? My cursory search hasn't turned up anything and my knowledge of 40k fluff kinda stops at 2nd Ed

none. they're a fan made chapter made by hena for his list (published by gw as part of an invent your army contest or something way back when SG was supported IIRC). So yeah nothing is official and afaik he's never actually stated their colors. Are you actually wanting to paint a SoI force or just wanting to use the list or just curious?

hena's one of those people nuked in the smeg up a while back and hasn't been around much prior but if anyone does have contact with him directly it could be fun to get what he's envisioned posted (perhaps using the b&c army painter http://bolterandchainsword.com/smp.php).

Yeah I'm looking at doing a marine force and looking at the Scions list in particular more because it's different to the 2 codex armies that are 2 of my regular opponents. When I was thinking about colour schemes I thought I might as well do 'em properly if there was an "official" scheme.

Thanks for the reply though. I guess I'll actually have to try and be creative.... Damn.....

His own army looks a lot like ultras. I posted a referral to this thread on the video.

Yeah his video reports look like proxied ultramarines and I regularly face ultramarines and blood angels amongst other things so I was hoping for a different colour to blue or red

I came up with this scheme a couple of years ago. I have not communicated with Hena on this so this is just my interpretation of them. Colors are boltgun metal, red with white markings

I really like that scheme! Much better than anything I'd thought of. Although I'll probably use the heraldry convention of using grey rather than silver.

Would you mind me using it?

Go for it. Post pics when you have a test model.
Have you seen his article on the chapter? It has the chapter symbol, I think.

I got a response from Hena on youtube. He writes:

"I lack account in TacCom at the moment. I did have some ideas but never got very far. If you send me message with email address I can send my ideas (done on some old marine painter thingy in web). But Centurions idea looks good (and possibly better than mine)."

Yeah I found the article and thought I'd found what I was looking for but no given chapter colours. I'll post a test model but I'm shockingly bad at painting 28mm never mind 6mm. You have all been warned ;)

You don't have to if you don't want to! The list can be used to represent any chapter's armored battlegroup, so if you have an old favorite chapter, just use it. What chapters (or colors) are your usual opponents?

The name Scions of Iron hints at Iron Hands successors, which makes sense because that legion/chapter was quite friendly with the Adeptus Mechanicus. That doesn't put any limits on your color choices, and Centurion's scheme is great. Gray/gunmetal rhinos with red accents would work great. Reverse it for command tanks, maybe.

Forge World's own legion, the Red Scorpions, has a dark gray and yellow scheme that's worth looking at because it doesn't put the accent color on individual armor panels like most people would. Doing it this way is worth considering whichever colors you use.
