@Sayrewolf

Do consider the Really Useful Boxes in 4 litre size. You can get an inlay tray for them which essentially means two A4 size areas you can stick a magnetic sheet straight down onto, and use steel or steel paper on your base undersides.

I'm doing this for my Grey Knights at the minute.

For what it's worth (and it might be slightly offtopic, but...) I've had good success using hobby/crafts storage drawer units. Something along the lines of:

Image

I picked a couple units up when they were on a deep sale, so they weren't much more than about $3 (about 2GBP) per drawer. Added magnetic strips to the bottom and all the lovely bases sit perfectly within. When I travel to game/paint/etc, I just pluck the drawer(s) I want, if necessary rearrange them to fill one drawer frame, and off I go.

I've changed the way the war stalker models are now packaged as customers seem to want to buy in smaller quantities so they are now sold in two pack types.

Pack one contains two stalkers with both war stalker and gallant war stalker weapons options included.

Pack two contains the command stalker plus the special weapons sprue that was part of the original war stalker set.

Hope this arrangement is more suited to everyone's needs.

So i've added a customer gallery to my site, only a few pics at the moment but this will grow steadily over time.

If anyone would like to see there onslaught or DiD or battlescene for that matter models put up on my site for everyone to marvel at them then please let me know and i'll sort it out.

Cheers

The acrylic bases have been a great success and are almost sold out already not bad really considering the low interest when first released.

Problem now is the cost of the acrylic sheets, the first batch was a tester for interest from the community and to guage manufacuring costs. In the end Paul made them for me at cost so made no profit at all for himself and by the time I factored in shipping to get them to me and bag them up I made about 2p a base in order to keep the price at 20p per base the maximum I thought anyone would pay for one base. So really unless we raised the price for these so that paul has a few pence profit for himself it would not be worth the time and effort needed to produce and sell them.

What do you the customers thing on the subject, obviously they are needed otherwise they would not be selling and it is providing a service to the community so i'm loathed to stop making them.

Your thoughts please on what we should do.

Put the price at a level where you make a reasonable profit, otherwise doesn't seem sustainable.

While I'd agree with you on the 20p reasoning, you will still sell them at higher prices i think. What you think is the most anyone will pay for the base is skewed by your being more motivated and hobby-talented than many people :)

Could offer them at approx cost when bought with minis, and up the price when bought alone ?

Hopefully with plenty of sales the material costs will come down?

I don't think I'd even notice the difference in price if the bases went from 20p to 25p per unit. I probably wouldn't even be too hot under the collar if it reached 30p.

I've enough experience and all the tools to hand cut all the bases I want, if I want to sacrifice the time to do it, and I expect that 99% of the people on this board are at least at my level of competence (or much higher!). Pre-made bases provide us with time saving and that's worth a money. You're right not to go crazy on prices, but nobody's going to begrudge you and Paul something in return for all the hard work you've put in, the dedication to and contribution that the bases being available gives to our mutual hobby.

Be viable, long term. We all want this to stick around.

I'm here in the States and just purchased a bunch of these bases for my nephew's Christmas present. I'm awaiitng shipments of miniatures to come in to place a base order for myself.
I too have the tools and wherewithall to create my own but consider the pre-mades pretty much a bargain.
Please continue to make these as I think the market will support an increase in price.

Pat

Yes having the option to buy bases is always appreciated.

Ok people i've been talking with Paul and if we charge 25p a base it will be viable for us both to continue making and selling the strip bases unless the materials go up in price again of course.

The problem is the acrylic sheet which is a special type that can be used on a laser cutter most cannot without melting or warping and the stuffs only available from one source hence they have a monopoly on it and can charge whatever they like. Unless you buy one of their laser machines starting at 8k they will not give you a lower price for the sheets no matter how many you want to purchase. Completely wrong if you ask me but there you go.

So a pound for four will be the new asking price once the new batch arrives.

As John points out, I'm having a major headache with my supplier at the moment. I approached the the company in question direct but they will not supply me (or others) direct at this time, unless I become one of their customers - ie buy a cutter from them! I'm trying to get my supplier to negotiate a discount on the basis that if these bases sell and I put in regular orders for acrylic would they allow a reduction in sheet price. Now Im not holding my breath, but if this happens I'll be more than happy to pass the saving onto John. Another avenue I'm looking at is lasersble 1mm HDF. Its out there but only in very small sheets. I've emailed numerous suppliers, but I'm being told its almost as rare as rocking horse sh*t. Now if anyone out there knows of any 8ft sheets of 1mm HDF in the UK please let us know :)

Would you consider ply not workable, or just not preferable for bases?
