Some Ruminations from the OGRE/GEV Acting Commander
Whoops, the Supreme Commander Died. So the one Surviving Chaplain offers his after action observations. The two larger OGREs (Mark V and a Mark IIIB) and one more modern Mark III were also knocked out. OGRE flat-top (first development Mark III from the home yards) also offers some terse reflection.
Casualty Returns for Infantry Battalion: 85% Casualties 1st Company, mobile reserve, 100% casualties, including complete loss of attached support weapons. 2nd Company, deployed in entrenched positions, 100% casualties. 3rd Company, forward mobile support forces, 50% casualties, cut enemy Line-of-Supply.
Fixed Emplacements: Bastion 1, right flank, total destruction. Bastion 2, left flank, intact and fully supplied with ammunition. Bastion 3, line of supply, surrounded and off-line but intact, total loss of support battery.
The field fortifications secured the left and centre of the positions in the city. Bastion 1 under its Techmarine control conducted a masterly defence. The supporting Tarantula positions were completely ineffective positioned on the rear slope of the neighbouring hill. Heavy Flamers on the Enemy 'Crab' Walkers rendered the protection of Bunkers ineffective. Congestion amongst the mobile Tactical reserve, and Bastion 3's support battery knocked the Bastion itself off line [broken] at a critical juncture as the enemy broke through the right flank positions. This main line of supply command post did not actually fire at all, due to lack of sight lines. The sighting of the Bastions did not allow for the passage of the OGRE Brigade through our lines. More indirect fire support attached to the Bastions would allow the to cover a broader front with fire.
