Been messing about with my orks and I think I need to add to the basing.

I'm wondering about making some small clumps of static grass or something, maybe desert/bleached grass as I've gone with a reddy tone.

Any one got any ideas on colour or good leads on really small clumps?

How small do they go?

I have plenty of silfor for my WM stuff, but the scale would be pretty out.

Its why I was thinking I might have to make my own, to stop the poor boyz being taken over by triffids

For very small "clump" like stuff, to build around the tall grasses and such, I've found that Woodland Scenics "fine-leaf foliage" breaks down really small. I've mostly used it on 15mm stuff and battletech bits myself, but I use larger pieces of it at that scale and know it goes very fine (and looks good if placed nicely).

For your bases, I'd suggest something like THIS.

That could be fun.

Anyone remember that crazy scenario from WD waaaay back in the day where the orks were attacking an algae plant made of some model box lids and yoghurt pots, it sort of makes me think of that. Weird alien algae.

Might well look into picking some up as I don't think I have any in the kit at present

Im favouring clump moss foliage from larger scales. What's moss at one scale is un-mown grass for ours!

example with 6mm dwarfs:

Those look wild. Whose clumps are you rocking there?

'roughly 0.5mm to 1mm in height'

I got mine a couple of years ago from the above link, but probably available many other places.

I've also been mixing them with tiny lumps torn from woodland scenic clump foliage, which mixes well with tufts to represent small bushes:

Excellent cheers.

Silfor is great, but I'd not seen these more mossy ones :)

Great basing there Apocolocyntosis. Really making me think twice about my own low end efforts. I might try trimming some model railway lichen up into tiny bushes as I have loads of that lying around.
