Very Nice paint job ! Even it is a bit "bright" for my tastes ... regardless ... very Old School ! 8)

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. They are appreciated :)

@ Legion, he is a bit brighter than I would normally paint too. I was taken out of my comfort zone by the fact that I needed it to be legio ignatum colours, to suit the background I was going for. I wasn't sure about my ability to paint it, but in hindsight I'm happy I did, as I really enjoyed the challenge. :)

Speaking of a challenge, I'll show you what I've been up to. In an old white dwarf Rick Priestly made a grav attack vehicle ( a bigger precursor to the land speeder I suppose) out of a deodorant bottle.
I suspect it was his way of telling table top wargamers that they should buy more deodorant :D.
Anyway, back in nineteen eighty something I made one to go with my imperial guard army.
I found it a while ago.

It used to have a gun on it, but it is pretty much intact.

Fast forward a couple of decades, and I am making some epic ones to go with my guard army.
Image
In the spirit of Rick's conversion I have stuck to materials that we're lying around.

However I will put some reasonable looking guns on them to help them look at least a little detailed.
I'm not 100% sure I like them yet. I'm hoping the finished product will look ok.

In games they can count as Valkyries (along with my assault guardsmen who count as storm troopers), or as vultures. I will add a decent cannon on top, and convert the plastic tube bits to missile pods. Should do the job :)

So the deodorant tanks are done.
Image

Complete with a big gun at the back, and rocket pods they can count as land speeders, or Valkyries for my jump pack storm troopers...
Image
So green platoon and their rides are done!

Speaking of rides, look what yellow platoon have...

And red platoon...

Plus another addition to the 9th's vehicle pool...
Image
The orders for these guys go something like "Stay near an objective near the back, and hope terminators don't show up. If the enemy fly any fliers near you, shoot at them at least once before breaking and fleeing."

But at least they look the part. ;)

Thanks everyone! Looking forward to giving this army a run soon.
I've just realised that I'm going to have to do up another grav-attack vehicle for net epic games (I play EA and netEpic) as speeders, Valkyries and vultures are 5 to a unit.
Luckily I have plenty of putty and junk lying around ;)

Also, I've decided to do one of the inquisitors soon too, so that will be what is coming up next.
I just need to get a ride for him.

Well the inquisitor hasn't happened yet, but he's on his way.
I did get a bit distracted, and decided to finish something else.
For quite a while I have had commissars sitting around, with little magnets on them. I planned to attach them to whatever unit they are assigned to in EA, and to give them a base of their own for NE. So I finally got around to painting them up.
Image
The round bases are steel washers with putty on them, and a magnet stuck in the putty, before putting sand on the bases. The magnet on the base of the commissar sticks him to the washer base.

I also tidied up my rough rider ones too.
Image
The commissars will replace one of the riders if I want to use these as EA models. If I want a rough rider commissar in NE some day (I don't have enough cavalry for a company, only 1 platoon at the moment) I can put them on one of the washer bases.
So that's it for now. Commissars are done. :)
