Hello!!!!!!

After reading the undead battle, what is up with troops on 40 x80mm bases ?

I believe it will be easier to move them, but how can an opponent judge if you have 3 ranks deep or 5 (especially for rank bonuses for combat resolution) ?

Would there be a single HP value for the entire squad?

I know my son has wights bookmarked for my xmas present, and I know I'll paint em first, but I'd love to know b4 glueing then down.

It would really help if you mentioned which game system you were referring to.

That's part of the new basing system coming out in the revision. We are moving away from bases to ranks, a rank will be 80mm x 20mm (I will still be basing my figures 40mm x 20mm and just putting two of them together, that way they can still be used for other games). So formations will be a fixed width of 80mm, core formations will be 3 ranks deep with the possibility to added 2 more for x points. That way you can make a beefier formation that can weather more damage. Each rank will have hit points and attacks and be removed as the hit points go zero. This type of thing will cause penalties to effectiveness such as archers get less shots and melee formations get less bonuses to combat resolution. I can post some info on the wights once I get to my computer so you can have firmer numbers.

Hi There,

I realise this is a slight deviation from war-torn but I think 80mm frontage is just better. I am writing my own rules with 80mm frontages and a depth of 50mm. I use dice holders glued to the back of the bases that hold 6mm D6 dice allowing up to 6 wounds to be recorded. I suppose if you used some sort of colour code for the dice you could increase this or simply increase the number of dice holders. I find base removal and moving lots of bases about to fiddly and time consuming.
