Batter late than never...

Here are the promised tutorial on how I made my ne(w)cron stuff.

The first is the Triarch Stalker:

Pieces I used (all from 40k necrons sets bought through bits stores). The claws are from the wraith set. Torso part is from the triarch praetorian set.

Image

First step is to cut away the balls pointing out from it. Secondly I cut away som of the stuff underneath to make it flatter and also to widen and deepen the half circle socket at the back (if that makes any sense):

Image

Cut the machine leg parts in half. Keep this part

Image

Glue them to the half circle socket (or preferably pin them):

Image

Take the claw part and cut it like this:

Image

Take the lower thinner part and bend it like this:

Image

Glue four of these to the previously glued on leg part, like this:

Image

Glue (or pin) the legs with thick claws to the front and the rider in place. Glue weapon of choice underneath it, I have used a part of the lychguard sword for the weapon. Then paint and your ready. Like this.

Image

I hope that's helpful. Image
Ghost ark to follow

Of course never settling on a single army I've now started a new one. Image Tyranids, below are my first two units. I feel a bit of a bad conscience. I really like the old tyranids plastics so have gone with them, even though I would have liked to support Deacon through buying via Onslaught.

I decided to change my bases for this army from the regular. I wanted to make the units more visually appealing since all the infantry will be mono pose. I have therefore gone with a jungle theme for the bases. Here's the first two finished units (hormagaunts). They're kind of traditional with bonewhite for limbs and green armor going up to light green on the final highlight.

Now for the second tutorial the ghost ark:

These are the parts I used. The transparent thing are a instant mold material that I used to replicate a green stuff piece I made for the "ribs" of the ghost ark.

Image

First step cut away all the thing pointing out from the torso part.

Image

Cut the spine thing in half and save one of the small pieces that you cut of in the last step.

Image

Glue them onto the "backpack ribs triarch praetorian part" for lack of a better name.

Image

Cut the robotic arm part in two.

Image

Glue it to the underside of the torso part at the back like this:

Image

Take a Lych guard sword and cut it like this. Being carful the keep the upper part to use as a weapon for the triarch stalker or other suitable epic conversion.

ImageImage

Glue it underneath the from of the torso part.

Image

Make suitable ghost ark ribs from green stuff, molds like i did, plasticard or whichever way you can think of. Glue them to the sword blade part.

Image

Glue on the triarch back pack rib thing and rider like this.

Image
Image
(I also added some small parts underneath it to the sides to act as engines like the 40k model has.

The last step is actually preferable to do after painting as it becomes really difficult to paint the round ball on the torso part (I use it to look like some kind of necron power source). :{[]

Well thanks you :)

I think at some point we'll have to make a mega-battle in Stockholm with tyranids invading some poor imperial planet.

Wow this log is a treat for the eyes! Great work on all of those minis, though the DE are my favorites. :)

No update in a long time. I actually continued on the tyranids a bit more, but decided to start a separate thread for them in the Tale of epic gamers subforum. It can be found here if your interested in more of my tyranids.

I have true to form also started a new project. This one I make no promises for. It will likely be a slow project that will take a lot of time to finish. It's a DKoK army. I'm going to use the novan winter infantry for my soldiers. I haven't actually got the infantry yet though as they keep getting pushed back, but last update said dispatches should start any day now.

I have some tanks though so have been able to start modelling some bases at least. Inspired by Elsmore I thought the bases really needed careful detailing to stand out. So as a small teaser I'd like to share the starting work for my fist two gorgons. The theme will be ruin city siege fight. Inspired by some of the forge world pictures.

and then mounted on the bases.
