Hi All

Ive suddenly been taken with the urge to re-start my Epic gaming. I used to play 1st & 2nd editions, but preferred Epic: Armageddon when it was released, I haven't played for about 7 years now though and in the intervening years I rather stupidly got rid of a lot of my stuff :(

I still have a decent Space Marine army (about 5-6000 points)

And a reasonable guard army (5000pts)

and some bit and pieces of both Chaos and Orks

Im looking to add to my Guard army and have been looking at the Exodus wars stuff, can anyone tell me if the Royal Empire Marcovian infantry will sit well with my Imp Guard infantry as I need two more companies.

Also are the Troublemaker Games Novan Royal Marines actually available or pre-order only, as I reckon these will do for my storm trooper platoon? And sticking with the storm troopers what are the best available proxies for Imp Guard Valkyries? I like the look of the Steel Crown Valkyries but wondered if their were better out there?

What do people think f using Dark Realm Special forces troopers as SM scouts? (scouts are the only official Space marine unit I don't have :( )

Finally, I was thinking of ordering some Old Crow infantry does anyone have any photos of the redesigned stuff he is now selling?

Hi, exodus wars, dark realm and trouble maker infantry are all brilliant and look great on the table.

There are a few of us in Harrogate so a game shouldn't be too difficult to arrange or if you are south then we have players that meet up in Mansfield.

My entire army (bar some titans) is proxied Exodus Wars and Dark Realm miniatures, pictures here

http://www.taccmd.tacticalwargames.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=27968

I can do some close up shots of stuff in there if you want a better view of them.

I also have some painted examples of the Exodus Wars Valkyries I can photo for you if you want to see them.

I use the EW khazari valkyries for valkyries and vultures. I use DRM infantry for my guard, and their special forces for storm troopers. But TBH for guard infantry just use whatever you like the look of, if you're not trying to match a particular style (e.g. trenchcoats) it really doesn't matter IMO. Infantry are also cheap enough you can just replace the ones you have if you want them all to match and can bear to pain them all.

Hi Northern Monkey,

All of the models on our website are available to order now, including the Royal Marines : http://www.troublemakergames.co.uk/did.htm

We'll be adding many more models shortly. :-)

Thanks for the replies/advice/pics, I can see my guard army growing rapidly as I want some of all the companies mentioned stuff, loving the infantry that's available, other than the Steel Crown Valkyries(which im pretty much settled on as the best proxie ive seen so far) is their anything else similar to the original model which; I really like, out there?

Any other options for SM scouts?

@ Evil and Chaos, Thanks for letting me know the Marines are available, you will be getting an order in the next couple of days once ive decided if I need the not grotz box as well. Oh and ive seen what youre planning to release and will definitely be interested in all the infantry sets, and more than likely some of the other stuff too.

@ Alf O'Mega, Leeds Wargame Club, Headingley, Wednesday nights, don't tell me youre a member too, lol?

Good to see the Yorkshire Mafia here ;D

Didn't even know about that one! I've found the Headingley games club and the Leeds Battle Bunker, will have to pop down one night. Best Valkyrie proxies are probably going to come from troublemaker, Moa and Kakapo from here:

They're being scaled up and recast in a couple of weeks so your timing's pretty good!

While you're about, is there any option to buy just the turrets from the Novan Ordnance Conveyor? Wondering what they'd look like as replacements for Hunter Turrets or Leman Russ Executioner turrets.

Ooow, might have to hold back for the troublemaker stuff now, any ETA on these?

Ive seen quite a few threads in which you guys go on about mk1 this and mk2 that(with regards to actual GW mini's), now ive been around Epic (on and off) a while so I have a varied collection, but im not always sure which particular model youre on about, is there a link, or thread with pics of all the GW minis?

And another question(sorry about this) what are considered the best proxies for chaos marines, I have a bunch of the most recent style( I think) but not enough to really form a decent force any suggestions, im not really bothered about representing any one particular cult of chaos, any will do me

@Alf, let me know if you do, I don't go every week an I'll arrange to be there, we're the club that puts the Fiasco show on at the Armouries (though I have nowt to do with myself)

If I were to do a Chaos army I'd use these

http://www.steelcrowngames.com/products/guild-myrmidon-centuria

As heavy armoured infantry or waiting for the Troublemaker Novan Elites to get finished

try this site it's far from comprehensive but has a decent mix of unit pics, in general, most mk1 models are AT/SM2/TL era as they mostly expanded the range rather than resculpting it back then, mk2 are Epic40k era and mk3 are from Epic Armageddon, this is very rough guideline and there are probably more exceptions to the rule than adherents!

I'm fairly sure you could mix in regular plastic marines with a few spiky bits, as well as the occasional daemon, or bit of ruined temple?

another option is to base them 3 to a base which is what I'm doing with my emperor's children and death guard, makes them go quite a bit further
