Can't be a sub-AC without a list, right?

I wanted to be faithful to the fluff on this list, while leaving some room for interpretation. It's meant to be an assault list, with Raptors moving to a core formation alongside a variable (6-12 stand) Claw. That being said, there aren't a lot of fun toys to be had, but there are some fun upgrades, so check those out.

Notable in the list is the availability of Thunderhawks, able to be upgraded to fearless. The list employs Strike Cruise/Battle Barge, instead of Devastation/Despoiler for spacecraft. The Titans mirror Imperial Titans rather than Chaotic ones.

Opinions, criticisms, and suggestions are welcome, although those with a play-test behind them will carry more weight. Play on!

Thanks for taking up the AC role. Out of interest - what is the fluff for this list? Or army theme etc?

Edit: Meaning how are they different from other Chaos Marines?

Ah, good point. It mostly lies in Terror Tactics, in which enemy units within 15 cm take an extra -1 to rally. This is meant to represent the fear instilled by the Night Lords in their prey. It's currently an upgrade, but may move to a general special rule for infantry units.

"We Are Coming For You" is intended to represent the ambush tactics of the VIII Legion, coming out of nowhere to strike hard. This is also an upgrade.

They're also different in that they're not intended to lean heavily on daemons. There is no greater daemon in the list, only furies. (I may need to tweak the summoning points cost on them, testing will show)

Hopefully this helps.

Theme wise it fits that NL don't have much access to daemons.

Is this why you have also gone for Imperial Titans rather than Chaos ones?

Yes, the titan legion that the night lords allied with had Imperial Titans.

edit: Legio Vulcanum I is the name of the Traitor Titan Legion

Sorry I'm not really following that line of reasoning. All the traitor titan legions had imperial titans during the rebellion. Their's nothing special about those two legions from Stygies forgeworld in the end.

Now that being said, I've got no problems with allied titans being the same stats and configuration as their imperial counter points. After all, not every titan is possessed and infested with daemons :)

I'm having a hard time picturing a Claw with Land Raiders/Rhinos/Dreadnoughts teleporting in, especially when it's meant to represent them sneaky around and not actual teleportation. I'll also bring up the point I did before, that teleportation is worth a lot more to a 15cm move unit than a 30cm unit, especially if the 15cm move unit is geared for close combat over shooting.

What about: We Are Coming for You -- A formation containing only infantry units can self planetfall -- +5 points per unit

Why self planetfall over teleport? A unit infiltrating isn't going to be able to go where ever it wants (like teleport can), there's an element of planning involved (self planetfall needs to pre-plot) and I can't see a unit which is that good at sneaky around appearing on your flank already suppressed (teleport has to roll for BMs, self planetfall doesn't). Also, it represents them revealing themselves right before they strike better, not them revealing themselves at the start of the turn and then sitting around waiting to activate as with teleport.

It also has some pros and cons over the droppods. It doesn't have the Deathwind, but you don't need a SC to use it and you don't have to place every formation on the table at once. You place them one at a time, right before you activate (more sneaky).

----
I think Terror Tactics is worth more than 25 points, especially when you can put it on your whole army. It might be better to limit something like this to the Chosen, working it in to their base-cost, to begin with.

I guess technically all of the Legios that Legions would have allied with would be initially Loyalist. So if you are doing a 30K list up to and including Isstvann V Dropsite Massacres then loyalist Legio would he fine.

I am not sure how mutated the Chaos Titans would have been by the time of the Siege of Terra.

But if the Night Lords list is intended to be for 40K era rather than 30K, surely they would be Chaos Titans??

I do agree that they should have little in the way of Daemons, which with propensity to Fast Attack and limuted Heavy Support should be enough to geta nicely themed NL list along with 1-2 unique Special Rules would help differentiate them from Black Legion/Word Bearers/Alpha Legion / Iron Warriors.
