How did you manage those lovely spikes? Looks fiddly.

Shapeways is expensive, especially when when you add shipping, but I combined with a friend and it wasnt so bad. The spikes are actually semi-cut into smaller sections already...so I just snapped them off and they fit in the configuration you saw on my predator. Dude did a good job on the set.

I'm hoping to have some of my shapeways dozerblade stuff up shortly...can't really make money off the site, as uploading your product and making it just for yourself is almost as much, guy prolly made a dollar or two. But the results are super detailed! cheers

I love how products like these breath new life into old miniatures.
Great stuff.

Pic 1 or Pic 3 works best, I think. I don't like Pic 2 because I don't think you would be able to mount weapons on that casing because of the shock and recoil (I know, like 100 foot tall walking robots are realistic, right?)

It might be a pain, but I feel like if you could construct some sort of mounting for those turrets, it would look a lot better than just gluing them to the base model.

EDIT: Oh, or! Check this - do like pic 3, but move the heavy bolters up to the very front of that ledge that runs along the sides instead of having them way in the back like that. You know what I am saying? I think that might look best.

Here's the paints I used for the process. Each model has a little more or less of one wash or another. And im still figuring out how to best apply each stage to get the results I want.

Image

-First I prime white or black
-paint silver
-add gold and bronze for various guns and trim
-add yellow and black stripes
-add rust
-wash of black - maybe some parts with devlan mud
-wash gold parts with either mud or sepia to taste
-add chainmail silver to edges of tank and chipping over yellow parts
-add more rust in very small, pure amounts
-detail to taste

so for me I played around with ading certain paints first or later after the washes. First couple of models seemed too dark, so I dry brushed some silver over parts after applying the first wash. Overall Im happy and will by perfecting the process with each batch.

Cheers

-V
