If it is closer to deamonhood perhabs it should look more ... wracked? Thus a facless (mirrored?) mask will help. How about a sicle as hand-weapon? Or the cleaver with an serrated edge?

That's more like what the Carvers will look like.

Awesome Stuff!!

It looks like some of the Legion Stuff got pushed back. When will they become available for purchase and do you plan on expanding the range further?

Also, if one were to have a go at some 3D modeling and printing - what tools would you recommend? The free version of Sketchup?

Deacon has previously shown some concept sketshes for legion big bugs:

Hey everyone - been a while since the last update so here's whats up:

The resin caster isn't going to work - he couldn't meet the price point, or the desired turn around time, so he's fired. On the plus side, I'll have about 30 sprues each of the "bug" legion troops, which I'll be willing to sell to anyone that's interested.

I have gotten in contact with a local metal caster though, and he looks promising - so once again, time to play the waiting game until the details are sorted out.

In the meantime, here's some concept sketches of the next few models I'll be working on:

Image

Barong: A small, mobile, crab-like living artillery piece.
Juggernaut: A huge battle construct which smashes tanks to pieces with massive blades and crushing claws.
Auger: A powerful psychic creature, able to produce powerful blasts of pure energy.

Are you still intending to do these at some point Deacon?

Yup they are all in the works. Larger bio-creatures will require the use of a new software package like mudbox or the like, and I need to train myself on how to use it before I can start modeling them.

Any 3D Software is a good starting point as you have to learn the basics. Sketchup is a vector based softwarel like a CAD tool. Most 3D Suites are polygon based or for 3D sculpting in particular. See rest of the post.

here is a list:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_3D ... g_software

Free software I used for 3d printing:

Sketch Up - http://www.sketchup.com/
Blender - http://www.blender.org/

Deacon usses Autodesk 3ds Max if i remember correcly. http://www.autodesk.de/products/autodes ... x/overview

If your intressted in some not mudbox/zbrush sculpting tools, I can recommend the following:

3D Coat
http://3d-coat.com/

A really good voxelbased sculpting tool. It's a different approach but very powerfull. It has a feature limited free version if you want to take a look.

Sculptris
http://pixologic.com/sculptris/

Sculptris was is free tool, developed by the amazing Dr. Pettr. He now works with pixologic and Sculptris is available for free through their service.
Sculptris features an auto-topologie sculpting algorythm. It is limited features wise but still powerfiull enough for the most basic things.

A thing i made with sculptris in an hour or so.

Blender
http://www.blender.org/

Blender is a free open source 3D Suite. It also has a sculptingtool wich works like the sculptis algorythm. I personally work with blender for most of my 3D needs. It also features a 3d Printing analysing toolset.

Gotta say mate, the holiday bundle that I analysed (OTC tanks, being the one most like what I'd want) isn't really a great deal.

If you want precisely that combination, it's a better price, but if, for instance, you don't care for even one of the variants, you're basically at the point where buying the everyday packs of 9 is better value (for instance, I've no interest in the Ushi. if i instead buy 9packs of 4 varieties and 2 3packs of the remaining 2, I've paid $15 more for the same number of tanks but am able to much more precisely select them.
If I decided that while I like the Enko, it doesnt really fit in with my needs, and traded those 2 3packs for upgrading the Taka to a 9 pack, I'm now 3 tanks down, and paying 2.50 less than before (so it would at that point save me $10 to take the specific layout)

of course, that's still a saving, and a saving of almost 3 tanks, so it's 1/16th off, which isnt nothing. but when we go to ship that to Australia, it gets really interesting.
48 oz is a little way into the fairly brutal $61.95 shipping bracket.
But if, due to splitting orders into smaller chunks, we made an order of 32oz, and a second order of 16oz, we're paying $44.70, or $17.25 less in shipping.

so, if I buy the holiday bundle, I actually pay more than if I buy two smaller orders. in exchange for more direct control over what I'm getting, I actually save $7.25

Anyway, I realise that some of the other deals which arent so postagey the savings are probably more actually there, but I'll be better off waiting I think ^^;;;

Hmmm... I see what you're saying. Let me see if I can cram the lot into a small flat rate box. If I can, I'll adjust the shipping accordingly.
