Hi!

I believe there is consensus to eliminate the rhinos and substitute with chimeras across the board when the IG list is redone.

I have a bunch of vindicators, whirlwinds and predators painted for IG (and I'd imagine a lot of old school folk do too), so I'd keep that option there.

Oh yes please don't get rid of those. I have Vindicator & Predator Companies for my I.G. I'm already in shock about the loss of Rhinos when I have no Chimeras! :'(

Sorry, still think they should be removed from the guard list.
If people still want to use rhino type vehicles then they can easily take them as marine allies.

Hi!

Given the size of my rhino hull IG forces out number most peoples entire collections, I'm thinking they stay.... ;) ;D

As always options. A simple statment letting people know its okay to get rid of them or not is good enough. :)

Agreed, I have a number in my guard army and whilst 40k has moved away from the rhino hulls in IG, I thought net epic liked to keep some of that old flavor. In saying that I'm happy for the chimera variants to take over in the main and perhaps the rhino variants only exist in support or special cards?

Hi!

That would be my take on it. :)

As mentioned before a simple statement along the lines of:

Chimera availability

The IG player may choose to replace all rhinos mentioned in formation compositions for chimeras with no change in formation cost. Those whom choose this method can also ignore formations based on the rhino hull (predator, whirlwinds, vindicators).

I think this is enough. :)

I agree Primarch. I wouldn't like to see us pay too much homage to 40K. GW have shown our game precious little respect, I don't see the need for us to do likewise.

By all means, offer the new units but - as ugly as the wee blighter might be - I wouldn't like to see the baby thrown out with the bath tub.

Hi!

We've always been about options. This one is fairly easy to accommodate. Heck anything that doesn't need stats is easy! ;)

I think it would be better if it is worded the other way round, i.e. the basic formations are Chimera based, but the guard player has the option of regressing back to Rhinos. Something along the lines of:

Heresy Era Vehicles

If the player wishes, he may replace all chimeras in a company structure (that company, 5 support and special formations) with Rhinos at no change in cost. If the player does this then he may take Rhino variant support and special formations as part of that companies structure. The player may then also take also take any other company formations which contain Rhinos variants.

So basically, that company has a predisposition for operating with rhino type vehicles and gives a bit of a theme to it, plus if you want to get your hands on the predator and vindicator companies, then you need to take some rhinos in the first place. You could do it without the last bit, just thought it added a bit of fluff to the army building aspect.

Happy with that approach Matt, good compromise. What about the standard rocket arty coy, can we substitute the whirlwind four something else?

I have no objection to this, cheers for putting that together Matt. :)

Have been pondering the Rocket Company, maybe just replace them with more Manticores?

Basically means you can do a bit of mixing and matching if you want to be a bit fluffy with your army building and have companies come from different regiments, but if you commit to rhinos then you have to go all in on that company structure.

If you do that, you are going to need to make clear which tanks/formations are considered "rhino based". Possibly just provide a list of what tanks qualify.

Hi!

That would be sensible too. :)
