I play games on Vassal 40K some times, but haven't tried it for Epic as yet.

It's ok once you get the hang of the shortcut keys and workarounds. It's never going to be anywhere near as good as playing on a table with good scenery and well-painted models, but it's a decent way to play a game against people on the other side of the country -or world- and I have found that it has allowed me to develop strategies and tactics at a much faster pace.

For anyone who's just browsing the thread and doesn't know what this vassal thing is, here's a look at the actual in-game appearance. (this is one turn from a battle report I did http://www.3plusplus.net/2013/04/vassal ... -vs-guard/ )



This shows 40K units rather than Epic, but basically it simulates a tabletop with models, dice measuring tapes, terrain and so on. Not as pretty as real live games, but not a bad alternative for long distance gaming relationships.

What is the Epic module called? The one called "Epic" appears to be for a card game??

I am interested to- with a new baby in the house I am limited to space hulk the musical with my four year old daughter (space hulk, but you need to sing and dance after a successful attack, either the good guy or bad guy song.)

@Epaminondas - You should get some protection for your IP. That game sounds amazing! Can I ask what the lyrics of the good guy and bad guy songs are??

I've wanted to get into Epic for a while, bought a small IG armoured company a while back, but I've never found anyone else to play with, so I've got no experience with the game at all. Does anyone who wouldn't mind helping a new player out use Vassal?
