How large are the old models? The Mars in particular, but they should only differ in height. I can't find any actual measurements online.

The follow up question is, of course, how large should they be? I know GW's Epic models are on something of a sliding scale, so it's a difficult question... I feel like it should be halfway between the scale of a Leman Russ and the scale of a Mk. III Warlord Titan. But how big is that? How long would a true-6mm Ordinatus Majoris be?

I'm kind of obsessing over them lately. Odds are nothing will come of it, because I have pretty much nothing that would fit into a Skitarii PDF army, nor can I easily get anything that does. But never mind that - give me your Ordinatus knowledge!

When I scratchbuilt mine, I used two baneblade hulls lashed together, and a chimera at the front. They're described as being the length of a city block in the fiction.

I've gone with 5cm long, but thin and spindly on two track units for the minoris, so maybe 7-8cm with a slight increase in width.

The ordiantus are basically a huge weapon + targeting system + power plant + void shields strapped on the back of some sort of haulage vehicle. I guess with every battle it survives it might become more militarized until it's basically a super-duper heavy tank, but to start with it's a kludge of the Machine God.

Real life the biggest sort of transporters we have are tank haulers, so imagine if you welded two of these together, one carrying the powerplant, the front one carrying the weapon and a little cab down in front! They're going to be slightly narrower than a typical tank because the transporters are designed for road (or rail). I'm not so sure what to use for the corvus assault pods version yet.

Thanks so much!

Do you think stretching it 33% to 80mm long would make it scale better with GW/FW titan models? You'd probably have to go even bigger to make it scale well with tanks, so I think I'd want it to be in between tank and titan scales.

Now I just have to:
a) come up with a semi-original design so I don't get sued
b) quit my job and stop studying for my structural engineering license exam so I have time for a hobby

Actually, I don't have much FW stuff. What I meant was that GW tanks are in a larger scale than GW titans. I wonder if an Ordinatus Majoris would look best closer to GW titan scale or closer to GW tank scale. Probably something in between.

go for true scale :)

They're large ad-hoc machines compared to purpose built titans. Also, drat that I missed calling you out for a game when I was in SF.

Bummer =[.

No big deal, though. I don’t currently have a proper game table set up, or an army that’s all in one piece in one place. I've really just been pretending to be an Epic player =p.

The most current description can be foundin the Space Marines Battles novel "Helsreach". There anOrdinatus is the width of two Land Raiders.
