Am I the only person not bothered by this?
I mean, if dozens of better quality and cheaper companies weren't already in business, if I hadn't seen most of these companies start up from nothing on these very boards and if it were not getting to the point where printing a titan is cheaper than buying one I'd be mildly concerned.
But this? meh. We're sorted
quite right.

We are sorted, but for me it's the visuals, iconography and fluff of their universe that I enjoy. I'd prefer not to use stand-ins as Thunderhawks, for instance, and the same goes to planes, tanks and other models. I am also a completist, so I want to have full collections of armies with all options. That's what bothers me in particular, the fact that I'll be unable to complete stuff.
It is frightening when totalitarian empires crumble, but a necessary thing. I am an Old fart (trademark that!). When I was young, there was no 1:1 between fluff and available minis. Indeed, fluff was not artificially insular and SF and Fantasy companies "borrowed" stuff much more openly than now in this silly IP age. I do not think that this was an obstacle to the birth of the hobby (which is not slang for GW). Rather the opposite: the open ended nature of fluff and dedicated minis available fostered creativity and border crossing. This is something many will have to relearn soon.
