I'm ready to face facts. I am never going to be able to afford drop pods, they are just too ridiculously priced. :'(

So it's time to get creative and build myself some proxies! But I need the help of the community! Can someone please tell me what the dimensions are for both open & closed drop pods (ie diameter of the closed drop pods, and diameter & height of open drop pods)?

Cheers!

I don't have the dimensions but here is a shot of the parts i used for mine, which should help. The squares are 5cm – so dimensions can be taken from there (they are probably undersized, but looked about right for 5 old style beaky marines to sit in)

Those are excellent and very impressive indeed Apoc, but I must apologise, I was meaning the old fashioned, spherical drop-pods. I'm an old-school type of fellow, plus being very lazy these look like a bit too much work! Sorry!

The closed drop pod is about 1.5cm in diameter. The open pod is about 2.5cm in diameter and about 1.2cm tall.

Cheers Dwarf Supreme, that's excellent! I'm going to see if the art shops have any of those polystyrene balls that are that size, if so I should have very easy proxies for the closed pods! Will have a think about the open ones now...

Also, thanks again Apoc, hope I didn't sound ungrateful, because I did appreciate your trying to help me out!

Bissler, have you looked at the EW drop pods? they are similar to the old SM era ones:

Love those pods, looks very fiddle to put together but most effective. I'd like to make some of those but couldn't be bothered with all that precision cutting. Anyway good stuff.
