Hey, thanks all. This guy is a monster but it's something I've wanted to do for some time now since I usually avoid this kind of ornate freehand work. There will be more of the freehand on the torso; I'm leaning toward a split aquilla on the front curved portion on the shoulder armor and I want to fit the name in there somewhere either on the carapace banner or elsewhere on the model. The sides on the rear of the torso I'm looking to work in the warp runners symbol and the titanicus symbol as well as more of the gothic arches from the inside of the legs to break up the scrollwork. The head is just going to have a simple laurel crown. No idea yet on the missile launcher, bottom of the carapace, or the rest of the shoulder pads. I may have this done in time for epicomp this year. At least that's my goal.
Glyn: I hear you, but since this was a special titan I really wanted to have something on there to tie it to Jims IG, his scheme just happens to be a blue and gray one.

I think it will be less of an issue as bits of the yellows start to show up on the model.
Rastamann: Techniques here aren't that complex. The biggest part was sketching out the area on the legs and then using that as a guide to work out how the scrollwork needed to go. After that I took a pencil and sketched it on the primed white leg to make sure it fit. Once I was happy with that I coated it in my blue base tone and used very thin white paint to lightly sketch out the pattern. The thin paint lets you "erase" mistakes before it gets too dry. After that it's just a matter of slowly building up the white and then going back in with the blue to touch up mistakes. The last couple of steps were to glaze the white with the base blue to tie it all together and hit a few bits with solid white for contrast.
