Interesting, I always leave the face uncovered but pointing table-side down, and smooth over the reverse side, just in case I get get charged with treason or similar in some wildly unlikely scenario.

Haha! Well, until the lyric "Rebellious Scots to crush" is removed from the "national" anthem, the monarchy will continue to feel my wrath!

Nice, effective terrain.

On an unrelated note, I totally misread "painty rinse" the firsttime around.

fair enough there :D actually filler is probably far easier to use than milliput, which i had been using 'til now. Takes a while to smooth it out well as it is so thick, can get a very nice buff on it though.

Neat mine markers, maybe add some tiny clumps of grass in a couple the crags?

@Spectrar: Thanks for pointing that out, I was knotting myself at your comment. I wish I meant that! I'll be sure to use it as often as possible...

@Apoc: Really like that idea about the clumps of grass... Any tips as to how I could achieve that effect? Throw some flock in?

The reason I used filler was because you can get it dirt cheap by buying pre-mixed tubs of it in one of the better known pound shops (the one whose motto is "Yes! Everything's a pound!" You've got to love how cheesy that is). The basic build was dead cheap - a few 2p coins, a couple of matches, filler, and a few small bits of card. It's when I started slapping on the paint that the cost rose!

Oh, and thanks both for the encouraging words! I'm very new to this terrain-building game. It's all a bit slapdash but so long as I get something vaguely resembling what I need, I'm fairly happy!

Depends on the type of grass you have. If it's flock-flock id just do some small areas of it, maybe small running lines in places, a bit like creepers. Small clumps of static grass would work, tuft stuff would go strait on, if loose static grass id just dab clumps of it into dots on pva glue with tweezers (easier to get the strands aligned that way i find, compared to just sprinkling).

Thanks Apoc. Like an ill-prepared drug-dealer, I don't have any grass. I'll have a look in my local modelling shop to see if I can find that static grass. Cheers!

Thanks too Ulrich!

I think you just won the terrain board with that comment.

Update: That UHU glue is garbage, but I had an idea as to how to turn its awfulness to good use. I adapted it to form some cobwebbing on the mines. I've only done it on three of the mines because I'm worried it would be overkill to do more and also because I'm not sure what kind of durability this trick will have!

Pitheads for the Squat list! I like the webbing too.
