That all the 6mm miniatures on here are very good?

You look at other forums and you see poor average and good stuff.
But here it is all good, how is that?
Have you all been painting for decades?

It is great but kind of puts me off posting my stuff a bit.

Very nice eye candy though.

I thought that!

I post on other sites and I tend to feel like I'm normally a good average. There are always the odd pros. Posting here is like showing terrain on terragenisis. You realise that you are only scratching the surface.

These forums have been attracting the best 6mm modellers and painters out there for a a long time and skill draws skill. Its the CMoN of 6mm. I guess the inspirations pool grew and thus attracted more. It really is the only place to see what is really possible in 6mm.

It shouldn't put anyone off from posting however. This is also the best place to learn, as people are very free with tips and hints to help others improve and that in part is how these boards are such a hub for the skill - it is shared freely, rather than just presented and kept to the artists.

I think its part of the natural nature of epic gamers - we're a generous bunch :D

Besides which, you personally have nothing to be ashamed of. I've followed AB for ages and some of your stuff is ace. The recent sci fi base you made was brilliant and the Napolionic Manor (the names completely left me...shame on me!) you did was superb!

I don't know about any other sites, but generally people painting 6mm and the other small scales tend to be the older hobbyists, who have either much experience from the bigger scales or have started way back when the Space Marine was released. In both cases having easily a decade or more of painting experience. Also I would dare to say that it takes a different mind to paint small than medium.

Truly so, feedback is important for learning and eventually mastering something.

Hey AB - i would put your stuff up there with the best. You have a great "gritty" feel to your minis which i guess i like to achieve in my own.

I know what you mean though. i've been watching this forum off and on for about 3 years and every time i cant believe 6mm painting/modeling can't get any finer someone comes along and proves me wrong ! :-D One of my old time buddies (who's a multi GD winner) used to joke that someone should shoot him if he started painting eyeballs on epic infantry - I'm sure someone here has tried it ! :-)

I love it though. Has inspired me back into the hobby and though i know i'll never have the patience/time/skill to reach the standard of some of the gurus on here (you know who you are:-) ) i've never felt intimidated about posting. I think its the friendliness and mutual encouragement of Taccoms which is it's real strength.

Thanks.

Maybe it is a genre thing?
I would say my historical is pretty good, better than my sci-fi.

But yeah, looking around here is pretty inspiring!
Glad I found the site after all these years!

Wait until you reach ancient age. Yours eyes go , you think you have done a good job. Take the photo and then all the errors are revealed. But hey, we can still post and people are usually kind. Enjoy.

Technically 10mm, not 6mm, but nonetheless...
