What happened to a bulk discount? Most companies knock off something for buying box set this big. It's like they are trying to drive us all to Vallejo....

I think their reasoning is that they're throwing in the carrying case for free.

I walked into an independant hobby store today, and grbbed $90 US in paints, much to the uprraised eyebrow of the store owner. "Stocking up before I'm out," he asked, then we both had a good laugh.

The new colorS may be great or may not, but for the near future I'm going to continue wanting some colors that absolutely match.

I'm quite interested in trying out some of the newer base shades and also the textured ones have piqued my interest (though I'm sure I'll stick with the tried and tested method of pva and sand) but for the rest of the range, not so much of a problem, I started moving over to P3 and Vallejo years back so all my favourite colours are intact ;)

Just hoping the wash replacements stand up in comparisons to the replaced range.

I like the idea of base/shade/highlight and will definitely be looking at textured paints. But I am annoyed that paint colours I have used for 20 years+ will be no more or given stupid new name.

What? No mechrite Red! Oh I'm pissed now. Shenanigans! [Grabs his broomstick]
Actually Dense Red from vallejo is spot on match so there's that. I'm more concerned about what they're replacing blood red with. It's great for dry brushing red gore/gory red with, far better than bloody red.

Right- Mechrite Red goes onto the list with Calthan Brown, Tau Sept Ochre and Devlan Mud as one of the paints I am using constantly at the moment. going to have to stock up.

I'll probably go in and get some of the Badab black and Devlan Mud replacements, whatever the hell their names are now, and paint a test swatch in comparison. I'll post pics when they're available (which is when again?)

That will be great and most useful. Will help me decide whether I need to rsuh out now and buy them before they are withdrawn or whether I can be more relaxed.

Thanks

James

I don't think I will buy any of these new paints.
I find that each new incarnation of Granny paint dries up in the bottle quicker... especially since the bottle designs keep getting worse.... and the quantities keep decreasing while the price keeps increasing.

I find its worth depends on the specific paint. For instance blood red is still to this day the very best bright red for dry brushing I've ever used. And need I remind everyone of the magic of Badab Black and Devlan Mud? :)

OTOH then we have horrible crap like sunburst yellow and golden yellow and less we speak of skull white, the better...

There's one paint I may get from them: foundation white. I tried that stuff in the store, and it's crazy opaque.
