Correct. Also it's the AOGBM list these days, based off of the new character used in the upcoming Epic : Mechanicus supplement. :-)

What's wrong with using them in the Ghaz's horde list, where there's a Stompamob formation that has Normal/Big/Uge size options these days?

To focus on the core theme of the Gargant Bigmob army list: Gargants and Mad Mek Upgrades.
It's the same reason the list doesn't have Snappa Mobs, Fortress Mobs, Landas, teleporting Gargants, etc. any more too.

Oh, right. There's the AOGBM list and the Stompy Onslaught list now. I'd forgotten agout the Stompy Onslaught.

It looks like the Onslaught list would allow a Gargant-themed list with a bunch of Stompas, though the Mek Upgrades would be absent.

As well as customisable Gargants, and Warbands that have Big Gunz as part of the basic mob (cheap Oddboys for Warbands!), amongst other differences.

Well, yes, but it could fit the purpose. I was more speaking to the desire to use Stompas in a Gargant list than implying those were the only differences.

Well I still refer to Snickers bars as Marathons....

Thats fine- that means I can use all 12 Stompa models. But what about my 3 Great gargants and 3 Gargants? Last time I checked I can only take max 33% as gargants/aircraft in Ghaz's horde list.

The Stompy Onslaught list has 175/250pt Kustom/Mekboy Stompas, which I assume are more along the lines of Supa Stompas. In other words, not well represented by the plastic Stompa models.

But I do like the big stompa mobs added to the Ghazgkhull Thraka list.

It's a bit of a pity you can't use Mega Gargants and Stompas together because randomly purchasing Orks on eBay is likely to get you both, but no big deal; that'd be a poor basis for a list. My Orks have given me massive painter's block anyway... I tried painting a stand of boyz and it took forever. I'm not sure how to approach them.

You can't use leman russ and imperator titans in the same list either.

He mentions his reasons for doing so in his post previous to yours.

I also liked having them in the list. The models are easy to get, fun to convert and I think were fun to play.

E&C were you concerned with people just putting put mobs of Stompas and not using Gargants?

Stompas are cute little baby Gargants though… you can take the Imperial equivalent, Knights with an Imperator.

If they don’t work well in the list, then they don’t work and I’ll stop. But if that’s not an issue, I would’ve preferred to see Stompas retained in lieu of other units that seem less relevant to the theme, like spaceships, deth koptas, gunfortresses, and big gunz.

Basically yes. People were seeing the list more as an opportunity to field all their stompas than as a gargant list.

At the same time, Ghaz's horde has just recently. Had the full stompa mobs Approved, so there's no need to have them in the Gargant list anymore... Allowing the Gargant list to concentrate on:.. Gargants!

Ditto- I wanted a list that featured all of the Ork Walkers from dreads and killa kans via Stompas and Super Stompas to Gargants and Mega Gargants.

I would happily do without some or even all of Big Guns, Deff Koptas, Flakwagonz, Gunfotresses aircraft, and spacecraft.

I could live with the fact that old plastic Stompa model would count as Mega-Dreads if they could be included in the (A)OGBM list- I understand you comments on how it actually fits the model better with just 2 weapons on old plastic Stompas.

James

For what it's worth, I was gutted when the varient lists came out that I wasn't going to have a list that could use Stompa formations as it's core. About 25 of the buggers at the last count....

BUT, since them I've actually come to prefer the Mega Dreads in the list. They're tactically a better choice than Stompas, and I'll just use my Stompas as proxies.

The only thing which I'm not too sold on is the transport side of things.

E&C - after Winter Warmer, did you decide to drop Bommers and the cheaper Stompa variant to 150pts each? I can't remember if it's something you did, or were just thinking about.

Cheers
Reedar
