They have opened two new forums on the official boards, Painting and Modelling and Tactics & Forces. I wonder if that will change the popularity of the EpiComms board with new people to the game, I hope not.

Should prove interesting ... but I rarely go there.

I have to say that I almost replied to the announcement on the E:A forum saying I didnt think it was a good idea, but I decided better of it.
Was it really from "popular demand"??
As far as I see it, the plan was to keep that "official" site to playtesting with the general board for the odd occasion that people wanted to stray into other related topics.
Now they say they're trying to keep everything in one place, but are actually splitting the same thread material (or doubling up) between EpiComms (well established, well supported & already has a great archive of relavant (and not so relevant..) info) and the new boards (OK so they're "Official" - the Nexus is in the Book too!)
Grrr..... now I have to add another forum to my daily checks......

To be honest - I don't have time for two forums, so I will be just hanging around here.
If people could keep us all informed tho, that would be groovy .

Yes, I'll be staying here, but may stop by the E:A site, to keep up with "Official G/W Dogma" !

I'm glad the sections were divided out.
I do, however, sort of wish there was an official "playtest" area separate from the overwhelming auxiliary subject matter that has grown to be such a large part of the forum.

I got flack for posting an "inapropriate" message on the forums asking about Forgeworlds involvement in the future of Epic, and my post was deleted! I was informed that the official forum was for playtesting matters.
Why didn't you keep it like that? It was a much better place before you changed it.
Plus, with netepic and the nexus being put in the new rulebook, why didn't you just bounce all the requests here? Help the community?
Just my thoughts.
Cheers
Chris

Quote (CrimsonFury @ 20 2004 Jan.,10:29) | Yes it was by popular demand, I was getting emails every day asking if we were going to add "offical" forums for tactics, modelling and painting. Plus there were already many such posts in the general discussion forum, so obviously there was interest. I email Jervis asking if I could add the forums, and he said yes. | OK, in that case its cool - I fully agree with giving the online community what they want (Hell, I handed over my own website trying to follow that theory!), I just hadnt seen / heard the requests and thought EpiComms was doing a fine job of covering the stated areas.
I also agree that there are different "Atmospheres" to the two forums & that that is a good thing, but to my ind that was much because of the aims of the two forums being different (Playtesting Vs General community & support) - now they're very much parrallel.
I will wathc both with interest where there's time

I don't often head to the official boards mostly because the last time I went the moderator-ship was poor.
I hear that it's better now, but the stigma has taken.
I might try again some time.

Chris | When was this? It wasn't deleted by me, and I doubt Jervis would have deleted something without mentioning it to me.
I would guess it was before I was a moderator on the forums, when there were only 2 main forums: rules discussion and army list playtesting.
There are currently several topics discussing forgeworld in the general discussion forum.

It was pixelgeek...enough said I suppose
I am not saying there is anything wrong with your forum now, but I was put off in the past by bad moderating.
Cheers

There is an offical playtest area. The "Official Playtest Armies" forum. What sort of seperation did you mean?
