so I've been cracking on with my steel legion and for a break decided to experiment with something less fiddly, namely the first of my four warhounds.....

here it is:

I'm intending for most of the flat armour plates to be that red-orange colour with a few hazard panels and some more checks, the checks need some serious neatening up, which I'll get on to when I have some time tonight, as always C&C welcome!

Inf looks splendid. Warhound look distinctly 2nd Ed 40K orky. Not necessarily a bad thing, just a bit unusual. Maybe it's a "dazzle" type camo to confuse grot gunners?

hmmmm :\

I was actually going for a 2nd edition space marine kind of look.... IIRC all the titans back then were bright orange and covered in check patterns.....

perhaps it will look better when it's finished and has more armour painted, this was just a colour test to see if I was happy with it.... now you've put doubts into my mind....

Maybe it's the distribution of the pattern that makes me think of orkses. If I recall correctly, old Titan heraldry used squares in bigger fields on the leg plates etc. anyway, it is very hard to tell what the overall look will be when there is more red than black.

:(

that settles it, the checks have got to go..... I might replace them with a yellow/black hazard stripe instead, I just wanted to break up the monotony of flat red panels....

so, finished another stand of grunts, and taken delivery of the other half of my infantry company, hopefully that should be the motivation I need to motor on and get them painted

I've also changed the colour scheme on the warhound, going for a very old school 2nd edition style

infantry front:

infantry back:

WIP warhound: (apologies for the poor lighting, it's difficult to get it right for this model for some reason....)

'whole army' shot, including everything that needs basing, painting etc:

thanks for looking, C&C always welcome.... when I sort some batteries out for my proper camera, I'll be able to get some decent pics taken, I'm restricted to my phone ATM....

That will be one smashing army! The inf looks crisp and the warhound red looks very nice. Are you going to complement it with something else?

yeah, still plenty to add.... in the short term I'm planning on adding a squadron of FW valkyries for the Stormtroopers, FW vultures for general awesomeness, and some FW T-bolts for CAP and some ground attacking

medium term, I'm planning on adding some werewolf liam russel company, and some werewolf demolition tanks, a second mech inf company, as well as a 3rd non-mounted garrison force, probably some manticores (the dream would be a company of manticores and a company of Armas)

long term, I'd love to add some small and medium walking robots (if they ever migrate to metallic form)

Mm... Manticores. Another box of minis I wish I bought when I had the opportunity. These canine tracks, where can they be found?
