Hi all!
I have a question about Chaos summoning;
it came up because I realised that you don't buy specific daemons for the pool (i.e. Bloodletter etc.) but just points instead (small, large).
In my army, I have one formation with Pact, Icon and Champion - meaning I can summong 4d3 points of daemons and keep them in play. This formation has the mark of Tzeentch; everything else in the army is undivided.
In my pool I have one large daemon and 9 lesser daemons (initially this was 1 Tzeentch greater daemon and 9 undivided beasts).
Tzeentch formation was supposed to summon the large daemon, rest of the army the daemonic beasts.
Since I handled my pool wrong, how does it work now?
If I roll less than 8 with the Tzeentch formation, do I have to field the lesser Tzeentch daemons? I don't have the models for them, so I'd have to paint some. Or can I ignore a roll if I don't have the models (like it says in the rulebook for Imperial Commissars for example)?
Also, can I choose not to use the Icon and keep the summoned units in play, removing them again at the end of the turn?

You don't have to spend all the summoning points. If you don't get enough points for the GD and don't want the lesser daemons, you just drop the points. If you don't have units in the pool or models, you can't summon them and you just lose the points.
You don't have to keep daemons on board with the Icon. It says you "may" keep them. You can let them go back to the Warp in the end phase if you prefer.

The Tzeentch formation can also summon undivided beasts too, so it shouldn't be a problem.
