Edit: Thanks to those above for the comments, it's appreciated!

Well my finger healed so I pulled it out my ass for an old abandoned project.

Landing craft:

With some models for scale:

I had planned to create some form of frame with the original FW arms included but seeing these arms on ebay from GlynG gave me an unexpexted easy way out, and a handy link back to the original model to leave no room for doubt as to what this is. I also created a raised mount for the turrets which I now quite like along the spine.

There is still a lot of work to do 'Under the bonnett' so to speak, creating a passenger compartment and making the underside look whole.

Thoughts? C&C?

Thanks dude.

Any thoughts on the clamps?

The clamps fit well, IMO. More important than the bottom would be to add it some detail on the top of the extension bit, so it would blend in with the original model. Some really thin plasticard panels, bumps, and maybe rivets will help it look more unified so to speak. The rest of the original model looks fairly symmetrical, so 2-3 sets of matching panels on each side would do it, maybe even make them continuations of ones already on there. Definitely like the concept - looking forward to seeing the finished product.

I'm with you here, I raised the lascannons on a platform for just such a reason, will definitely be doing a couple more taking inspiration from the thunderhawk.

Re:Rivet-ing, this is really daunting as I'm finding it hard enough to get these panels aligned correctly without wanting to rip them off and do it again. ANY tips would be greatly appreciated, I'd rather it not look like an ork got hold of it. LOL

O-Man, my heart sank for just a moment there...

Thanks guys!

Maybe put a smaller platform on under the back turret so it sits a little higher then the front one giving it the ability to shoot forward to?

Fantastic work thusfar can't wait to see it completed.

Edit: well just for aesthetic look, :)

Re: Riveting, I while back I saw some transfers that had 3d details on them, including rivets in a neat row.

There were 2 manufacturers:

http://www.archertransfers.com/SurfaceDetailsMain.html
These have loads of options including rivets, treadplate, weldlines etc, all as 3d transfers, very expensive though.

http://www.micromark.com/O-scale-decals ... ,9967.html
Just rivets afaik, but cheaper.

Hope this helps with your rivet alignment, the LC is looking great so far.

I'm not even sure there are rivets on the original model, so I think I'll withdraw that little portion of my comment :P I agree that they'd be way too much of a headache.
Panels should be enough. I think you could slice up an imperial BFG antenna if you wanted to replicate some of the more prominent "bumps" (for lack of a better term) that appear on the rest of the model.

Will need to pop to my local model shop and see what they have. Transfers for rivets sounds very interesting but are, again, fiddly. Think I might find something suitable for plating/panneling.

Should be easy enough to raise the rear Lascannon up slightly.

The Battlefield 3 beta keeps distracting me, I may be dead to the hobby when the full game comes out. :/

Thanks everybody!
