I should be painting everything else and be building terrain, but my hobby hours seem to be spent on these small bad boys
After a quick game Monday night, I found energy to finish two AA blimps:
And I got around to do the bases on my homemade broken counters:
Pics from the Monday night game vs. Speaker To Machines - well some pics as the intensity rose we forgot to take pictures...
The valiant Squats Demiurgers Halfhumans forces - in hindsight 8 activations at 3500 was a gamble, and I should have opted for more bikers and gyrocopters instead of the cyclops
16 forgers + 2 thunderers and grand warlord
12 mole mortars + thunderfire
12 thudds + tf
12 bikers + warlord
8 thunderers
4 iron eagles
1 overlord
1 cyclops
The evil empire strike force.
From memory
1 tac det + 2 dreads, 1 vindicator and supreme commander
2x 5 land speeders
1 tac det
2x T-hawk, ass+chap, det+lib
2x Thunderbolts
1x terminator det
The battlefield ante setup. I so much want to get around to do some modular terrain!!!
Turn 1 - My thunderers gets flanked by land speeders after using their ow to blast a thunderhawk, carrying a deadly ass. chappy+dev. libby combo in my deep right.
Close up of above.
Two marine detachments camping it out in fortifications, true strike force style
And that's it, I'm afraid. Next time I intend to do a whole report
The battle was intense from the get go and midway thru turn 2 we had more or less crippled each other and it turned in to a tactical stalemate. STM won on technical knockout with 1 remaining land speeder locking my cyclops with his extended zoc, so I couldn't march onto his table half and take the game into turn 4.
The turning point was in turn 2 where STM's second Thunderhawk det. destroyed my 18 strong forger guild in an assault without losing a single marine! Good dices on his behalf did the trick and left my flank exposed so he could pick out my gyrocopters. My mega guilds proved okay, the arty guilds at least, but the lack of mobile units became my downfall. The sneaky behaviour of the evil empire have been written down in the book of grudges and my stunties eagerly await a rematch
Sorry for continously reviving this thread, but it serves well for an army blog I guess
Cheers,
Thomas
