Mate,
You want to do something that contrasts your paintjob as to highlight the job you have done with the model. Nids are known for desolating worlds, so maybe a theme along that line, something barren, maybe dark and volcanic looking terrain using some fine sand. Alternatively, take a look at Dawn of War and try to emmulate some of the infested worlds from there.
Cheers

I was thinking the same thing, something dark and desolate...anyway, I´ll probably continue painting nids and leave for later the basing...

Dark grey ash world bases would look really good here.
Are you using a dip on these? They look great :-)

Feytor this is the same colour style I tried with my nids and failed horribly to pull off! nice work. If I hadn't already gone a long way on the new scheme it almost makes me want to return to the original idea - great stuff! BTW what's your painting process? Exact colours etc? I agree with CAL001 and MoK on the bases too. Black/darkgrey frames bright colours nicely I've found.
Thanks
I am a slow painter and I do not have so much time to paint, so the painting process is very simple: the first is to apply a coat of paint with GW bleached bone, then I apply vallejo red (model color 70947) to the details (scales, claws, horns ...), finally I apply a mixture of matt varnish and asphalt bitumen (12 parts of varnish for one of bitumen)
I'm not sure the English name is asphalt bitumen...the Spanish name is "betun de judea" and this is how looks like

I know I could get better results spending more time, but I think it is a very effective technique for these small miniatures
