Hi all,
I have loads of old models from the original epic box sets, plus stuff from Titain legions etc.
Is it Ok to use the square based troop models?

Welcome to the boards! Yup, no problems at all. In fact I believe a few of the new models willl be on square bases (the IG heavy weapons teams) You are pretty much free to base any way you like as long as the base is no bigger than 4 cm on any side and no shorter than 0.5 cm on any side - but at least 2 cm on one side. As an example you could have bases 0.5x2 cm or 4x4 cm or a round base 2 cm in diameter.
Cheers

I seriously doubt it. I use 3/4" craft sticks, that I cut into squares (tin snips cut them like paper).

You can used whatever bases or models you want, it makes no difference. ?Jervis even mentions that in the early E:A downloads. I've been playing Epic since SM1 in '90 and most of my infantry are on square bases. ?So as I said it makes no difference. ?However, the square bases are no longer available from G/W MO, but occasionally they show up on Ebay, Bartertown, etc. I have some I'm keeping in reserve ! ?The same goes for models, in some case Jervis gives stats and in others he says "use as" ... for example a Gorgon Mk.2 or 3 can be used as a Chimera, etc., etc. ? Everything old can be used ... ? ?

Hi!
For those who like square bases (like I do) an easy outlet is to buy GW fantasy 20mm bases. The ones you use for rank and file troops in that game. They are the same size and with a little flock will look indistinguishable from the standard ones.

As an added bonus you can use the Warmaster bases for troops like Bikes, Boarboyz etc. I've even based my latest unit of Terminators on the Warmaster bases.

Quote (primarch @ 31 2003 Dec.,22:02) | Seriously though using them as you suggest for bike, cyboars and similar units is a good idea. | they can work well
for the majority of my bases I use plasticard and cut it up and have had virtually no problems

I've also found metal bases in the hobby shops for about the same prices as GWs plastic ones, and you can buy them in a wider variety of sizes.
